The flashback scenes. Alastor denies Vincent's offer, so they fight yada yada. Alastor strikes both sharply and fondly, even somewhat relaxed. He's sure he's going to win this fight. Expect he doesn't. When Vincent was barely keeping his balance, swaying to left and right, injuried from the tip toes to the tips of antennas, Alastor was ready to make his last move to - not permanently - kill the other. But one tiny brief second of hesitation was more than enough for Vincent to recover and make a quick strike towards Alastor instead, causing a crushing injury across his chest.
Alastor panics; not from fear (he knows he can't actually die from that), but rather from humiliation. Vincent's anger falters soon as he realizes that he actually injuried Alastor. The Radio Demon spits something out that sounds too much like a swear, his shadow consumes him whole as he escapes.
(That then turns to be the same time period when Rosie made Alastor dissapear.)
Vincent feels guilt. Of course, Alastor might've just break his heart in crumbles and then stomped on it a time or few but as much as Vincent didn't want to admit it, he still cared about him. How could he not after so many years of working together side by side? He didn't really think he'd be able to physically injure him that much that the Radio Demon himself would actually retreat.
Days pass. Alastor is no where to be seen. Vincent wants nothing more than to somehow find all this- to see him again. To beg for forgiveness, if that's what it takes to make sure Alastor was okay.
Vincent doesn't find him. After half of a year of searching, hoping and praying he finally settles with the idea that he killed Alastor. He doesn't know how- sinners cannot die but then where was Alastor? There was no better explanation.
7 years pass when Alastor finally shows up.
Vincent Vox became the same powerful being he is in canon by the time Alastor comes back. And as soon as he learns Alastor is back- that he's well and very much alive, he feels angry. He feels rage. Not the same rage that is in canon. He's angry at Alastor for dissapearing- for making Vox feel like it was his fault, for making Vox worry if that's where it's heading. Soon as Alastor comes back, Vox becomes overly clingy, too desperate and whiny, trying to find out where was the Radio Demon missing all those years.
