Current Obsession: Travel

Ahahaha, “current.” In the back of my head I am always looking for ways to go to places that are not here. I think it’s one of the underlying reasons for so many of my interests to begin with - reading fiction, playing video games, keeping headphones clamped over my ears whenever I go out, dressing like someone not of this time period/planet/climate. Spring is transitioning into summer here so this feeling of wanting to be elsewhere gets especially strong.

Imposter Syndrome Ahoy

So my first con cosplay and I get a Judges Award and I should be proud of that, right? And I am, but now I guess the adrenaline’s wearing off and the jerkbrain’s kicking in and I’m starting to hate looking at pictures of myself (for those of you not in the know, I’m neurotic as hell and while the judges gave me lots of credit for being in character as Kreig the Psycho, trust me, I didn’t need to dig very deep to get there).

So I dunno, it’s confusing times in my head here. I’m glad my hard work and skill were recognized, but I’m also somehow feeling sick in my stomach about it at the same time. Jerkbrain’s contradictory like that. *sigh* Don’t worry about me, I’ll find a distraction and get over it, I always do.

Putting it down in words I can see exorcises some of it. Throwing that out into the ether where there are witnesses? Even better. Means I can’t convince myself that it was all in my head later. Believe me, you’re helping, just by reading this.

Anyway, thanks. I’ll figure this out.

Finished Krieg cosplay at Kawaii Kon 2016 (I’m the not-very-girly girl on the right). My friends talked me into entering the Cosplay Contest and I won a Judges Award (WHAAAAT)! This was my first “real” cosplay so I’m still kinda freaking out. Here’s the only decent photo I had of myself, and I wish I knew who the Maya cosplayer was (if you see this please identify yourself!).

You know the saying: when life gets shitty, you make... uh... Shit-aide? Wait, that's not the saying... Anyway, just had a catastrophic paint spill. Fancy 'spensive Typhus Corrosion all over the table and my hands. So I grabbed my cosplay shirt, put it on, and starting wiping paint off on it. And daaamn did that turn out well :D

Taking a break from drawing so, so many lines (SO MANY) to vent a little. Having trouble with the lines on the arms. Like, I’ve been an avid comics/manga reader for a long time, and I still have NO IDEA what is going on with comic book buff guys’ arms. It’s all eldritch Liefeldian horror* the longer I stare at the image and try to figure out what real life muscles those bulges are supposed to represent. NNNNNNRRRRGGGHH

*Liefeldian horror is a lot like Lovecraftian horror, but with fewer tentacles and more lumps.

MY PECS HAVE PECS! It's Dudebody Preview Time! with bonus unsolicited (FAKE! obviously) dick pic. There's a lightly padded muscle-shaping shirt under the torso shirt, and it didn't fit right, so I just spent the entire evening making a bunch of alterations by hand.

Nekkid male torso airbrush work by the very awesome and helpful Kym of Kawaii Ugly. Tomorrow's plans include taking the sleeves in (they're too loose), adding in some Borderlands-style cel shading, and of course MOAR BLOOD SPLATTER.
