Since they’d been released from Alphys place, the small human had been feeling rather whoozy and tired still. That’s why going to a friends place until they were feeling stronger seemed like a good idea, and who better to seek out than the dad skelly?
So here they were getting free piggy back rides with Kangaroo as he went about his business, mainly cause they were living up to koala reputation of latching on and not wanting to let go.
The kiddo-shaped growth on his back doesn't seem to bother him much, granted his "business" consists of spending shifts at whatever stand he was supposed to be working that day. It was probably sometime around noon—best guess, after all it was difficult to tell time without the sun—when he floated them up with his magic, settling them in his lap.
"Hey kiddo. Did Alphys give ya any medicine or anything ya gotta take? S'about lunchtime."

Skele dad is here to defend the child from spooky void man. He's scared out of his mind, but he can't let anyone else be hurt like he was.
When they feel someone close to them the child manages to wake up stretching and yawning and oblivious to the possible threat looming outside their room. Oh, it was skelly dad!
They smile at him, but it’s quick to leave when they notice his expression. Was…was something wrong?
He forces a smile when they look at him worriedly, one large hand ruffling their hair in an affectionate manner. There's a moment of hesitation on seeing the fragile state of their soul, but he tries not to focus on it—they're in the lab, Alphys is doing her best to help.
