Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either. People are simply unique, incomparable. You are you, I am I. I have to contribute my potential to life; you have to contribute your potential to life. I have to discover my own being; you have to discover your own being.

Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. That’s its balance.
Osho (via purplebuddhaproject)
Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.

The sense of wrong is simply failure to see where something fits into a pattern.
Alan Watts, The Joyous Cosmology (1962)
where are you now...
i’ve waited so long,
Can’t find you anywhere, been so long since you’ve been gone
I’ve broken my heart, laying down in my mind, fall short on the winds, my baby had gone
Soul sister, my friend angel beside me, i’ve fallen short, of what you wanted me to be
little star you’re my love, can’t forget you each day, i’ve been lost without love, lost without a way, down on my knees I am begging to know, what can never be seen without the hand od god
Poetry
It all begins with a choice,
a real choice
Darkened names, and sinful grace, counting spades I am made of pain
mine is my own and the rest falls into place, I am weakened by you, you are haunting me
The winds of my age, whisper to me each day, I am full of grace and yet don’t know my name. Pull me inside out, turned me upside down
For all lives, it’s important to know, we wont fall short, we won’t blind our sides, we wont fall to die, we wont fall to die
Step back from yourself, and in that you can tell I’ll fight for this, rish up me down on my knees I am dead for you, I am dead to you
Starting a series based on the phases of the moon.
Five Daily Recollections:
I am of the nature to grow old; I cannot avoid ageing.
I am of the nature to become ill; I cannot avoid illness.
I am of the nature to die; I cannot avoid death.
All that is mine, dear and delightful, will change and vanish.
I am the owner of my karma; I am born of my karma; I live supported by my karma; I will inherit my karma; whatever I do, whether good or evil, that I will inherit.
Five things to do at the start of a sitting:
Gratitude
Why am I doing this (what's my motivation?)
Work up some determination
Metta - always for yourself, for others as well if you wish
"Breathing in I calm body and mind, breathing out I smile."
Five things to do at the end of a sitting:
Recapitulation - what did I do and how did I get there
Impermanence - all these high, but mundane, states are now gone
Insights - did I get any; what were they
Dedicate the merit from this sitting for the liberation of all beings
Resolve to be mindful as I get up and go about my activities (more details)
Essence of entering each of
the 8 Jhanas
:
0. Follow breath until access concentration is established:
1. Switch attention away from the breath to a pleasant physical sensation:
2. Focus on the emotional joy/happiness that is accompanying the intense physical sensations of the 1st Jhana:
3. Turn down the intensity of the joy/happiness to
contentment/satisfaction
4. Let go of the pleasure of the contentment/satisfaction and drop down to a
quiet, still equanimity
5. Sense the "boundaries of your being" and begin expanding them outwards:
6. Realizing that it takes a
boundless consciousness
to be aware of a boundless space, switch your attention to to your consciousness of the boundless space.
7. Switch your attention from the boundless consciousness to the content of that consciousness - it will be a sense of no thing -
no-thing at all
anywhere.
8. Let go of all the previous outward sensing and come to rest in a small spot more or less between the eyes and a few inches from your face. Focus on being in
a state that has no characteristics

Insomnia relief As I was reading Excuses Begone by Wayne Dyer it reminded me of a a number of techniques that I use with my clients. What I call "negative
One of the exercises I do at work to release stress is to take regular breaks. While there are many places to stretch out and relax, I like the hammock. Time in the hammock allows for insights and allows you to rest in the images of your resolution. The relaxing hammock practice of stillness is perfect, as it nestles you in nature surrounded by beauty and connects you to that quiet source of inner wisdom. Relaxation puts you in a receptive mode. Voilà! Inspiration arrives.
