Is that better?
I do try.

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Is that better?
I do try.
But…Okay, no.
That had absolutely zero feeling. You expect to discipline teenagers with that?
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Is that better?
Singing Lessons & Introductions || Jaden/Beth
Beth was excited to have her first one-on-one session with a student. Doing this is exactly why she wanted to become a music teacher; to inspire and encourage the kids that wanted to follow their dreams. She sat at her desk with a cup of coffee when she saw Jaden walk in, smiling at him and standing up.
"Hey! Jaden, isn’t it?" She walked over to one of the filing cabinets, pulling out one of the folders. "I didn’t know whether you wanted to sing a song of your choice or one that I have, so take your pick." She set the folder of sheet music on the table and sat on one of the desks. "How much experience have you got?"
Jaden was excited to have private lessons. He’d been pissed when his parents told him they weren’t allowing him to take Music as a class. It was like they expected him to make the same mistake all over again. They wouldn’t be happy if they knew he was doing this (even disregarding the fact that the teacher was female), but they didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.
He walked into the Music room, eyeing the piano off in the corner, and set his things down. “Hello Ms. Graham,” he greeted with a smile as he pulled out his own sheet music. “I’ve actually been singing all my life and prior to this, I was taking music lessons in and outside of school. I also play several instruments. So a lot of experience you could say. But it’s always good to keep up with things.”
Beth picked up Jaden's sheet music, looking at it. It looked hard enough, and she was curious to hear him sing it. "Okay, awesome. So we don't need to start at the beginning. Do you want to sing this and I can accompany on the piano, so we can see what you sound like?" She gave him a reassuring smile, she knew that whenever she used to sing as a teenager she would have gotten scared, but she could tell that Jaden was confident.
She set the sheet music on the piano and opened it, testing out the first few notes. "Okay, whenever you're ready," she said, looking over at him.
But I didn’t say yes.

Hmm…Well that’s one option.
You didn’t say no!
But I didn't say yes.
Please do try. My class is far too small for my liking.
I can always just ditch math and sneak in….
Hmm...Well that's one option.
First day of teaching and I'm already stressed.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that. I did teaching placements in college, but this is my first paid job, so I’m as scared as you are. Excited, too, though!
Oh, yeah. Y-you should be. Excited, I-I mean. You’ve got a pretty busy, possibly crazy year ahead of you… not to s-scare you or anything.
I know, but I've always wanted to be a teacher, so I'm pretty elated right now.
So this is the Haven Academy, huh?
Yes it is! Welcome!
nobody’s taking music seriously.
I would if I could fit it in my schedule… It was one of the few classes I liked. Music and theater.

Yeah, of course, I understand. It’s my first week too, actually.
Nice to meet you, Lennon!
M-most of the people I’ve met here are new. Doesn’t feel like it, though. You’ve taught before?

Yup, but I don’t want to push you into doing it if you don’t want to, it’s entirely your choice. Yeah, that’s me. Hey, it’s okay, just call me Beth if you want to. Maybe not around other teachers, though.
I-I’ll think about it. I just need time to get the hang of this place, this is my first week in here.
Nice to meet you, Beth, I-I’m Lennon.

Best part of the weekend is sitting in and watching movies.
No problem. Like I said, I’ve been there. How about tomorrow afternoon, I can open up the classroom for the afternoon?
That works for me.
Perfect. See you then!
