Hi, I am sure I've seen the actress you use to portray a young Barbery Ryswell in your blog, but I can't remember where. Would you please tell me her name so I can look her up? Thanks a lot in advance :)
The actress for Barbery is Adelaide Kane, most of her gifs can be found in Reign. The actress that I use for Bethany is Caitlin Stasey, also using gifs from Reign. Sorry this probably took an age to get back to you but I no longer use this account, sadly.
Genna couldn’t help but be mildly impressed by the girl’s confidence. “Well the company of the same few people can become quite stale. I’m Genna Lannister. Pleasure to make your acquaintance,” she replied with a smile.
“The Ryswells are from the North, correct? How does a Northern young lady such as yourself find herself to be in King’s Landing?”
“Lovely to make yours, Genna.” Bethany returned the blonde woman’s smile thinking how much sense it made that she was a Lannister. No other house exuded quite the same confidence as the lions of Casterly Rock.
“Yes we are and of course it is difficult not to know where the Lannisters are from. My sister and I have always wanted to visit, well Barbrey more so than I, but nonetheless we managed to wear my father down and he granted us the permission to come.”
Cersei’s plunge towards the street was stopped short by a pair of hands that shot out to steady her - whomever had caught her wasn’t too strong, but Cersei felt the tension in their arms. Hoping to relieve whomever had caught the momentum of her fall, Cersei slammed a hand down on a stall counter, a poor attempt to prop herself up.
Half-standing, half-supported, by a woman Cersei nearly recognized, Cersei realized that the migraine would have ceased much quickened had she allowed herself to slip comfortably onto the dirty cobble - spots danced in front of her eyes as she tried to stand on her own, insisting to the other woman and several of those around them that she was fine.
“Thank you for your concern,” Cersei said in a low, but grateful voice. “I was browsing the stalls and I don’t know what came over me,” she explained. Was it a lie? Not exactly. Glancing over at the woman, Cersei took note of her semblance to one of the other ladies she had seen about the Keep, and it took her a moment to place her finger on her name. Feeling embarrassed enough as it was, Cersei just gave the other woman a kind, and oddly dismissive, smile, hoping she’d return to her own business.
A frown of concern graced Bethany’s features as the girl tried to assure al those around her that she was fine. It wasn’t a claim that she cold believe from someone who moments ago had found themselves about to get better acquainted with the cobbled streets had she not intervened.
Though at the same time she couldn’t blame the other girl for her insistance on the matter, if it had been herself then Bethany was sure she’d be doing the same thing. After all drawing too much attention to herself was something she tried to avoid and taking up the role of damsel in distress was loathsome to her. Relaxing her features she thought that it might make the stranger more at ease if she gave her name. “I’m Bethany Ryswell.”
Unwilling just to let the blonde go, even with the gratitude and explanation given, she smiled slightly. “Perhaps you should sit down for a moment or two, I’m sure the heat can get tiring. Or perhaps you just need a drink or some food, I know how easy it can be to prioritise other things over them.” Too often she had forgone meals to continue riding or enjoying what little freedom was afforded to her and even if she doubt the girl’s reasons to be the same she could still acknowledge that there could be some similarity.
He glanced to the tapestry briefly, when the girl mentioned it, and although it was beautiful, it just wasn’t the kind of thing that caught his attention. Since she apologized too, he saw no reason to insist he was the one to blame, but was courteous enough not to blame her either. “Then we share the blame, my lady.” Jaime answered with a grin.
“I don’t believe we have met, have we?” He asked, pretty sure they haven’t - he didn’t recall her, and look at her gave no idea to him about who was she. He was pretty sure the accent was northern though. Instead of trying to guess, Jaime decided to have her introduce herself by saying who he was first. “I’m Jaime Lannister.”
“I think that’s for the best.” She replied with a smile, it made no sense for the two of them to both play martyr and attempt to solely take the blame. Shaking her head to reassure the boy that he was correct in his thinking that they had yet to be introduced but upon hearing his name her own memory was stirred. “No, I do not think we have. Though I do recognise your face from the tourney.”
“Bethany Ryswell, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” It was more than just formality that made her choose those words, Bethany had ben curious about the young lion since she first began hearing the stories of him when they’d reached her home. Such was her curiosity that she coulndn’t help but question the boy slightly about the first thing that came to her mind. “How do you enjoy the capital? I find myself still getting used to the busyness of it all but it’s an exciting experience.”
Genna jumped at the sound, her eyes shooting open in alarm as she whipped around to meet the source of the sound. She was met with an unfamiliar face. Genna tried to calm her furiously beating heart and regain some of her dignity.
She looked the girl up and down, and found nothing overtly threatening about her. She seemed rather frail, Genna thought. With an upward tilt of her chin, Genna asked, “Yes? Can I help you?”
“Oh no, I don’t need help thank you.” Giving the woman before her a chance to recover slightly from startling her, Bethany took a moment to study her slightly more without making a huge show of it. Before her eyes could dwell too long on the stranger she looked back out at the view for a few moments.
Unperturbed by the blonde’s keen gaze rolling over her, assessing her no doubt, Bethany took a step or so closer to the other women. She’d come this far, already having announced herself, there seemed no sense in backing away like some frightened child now. It was past time she started embracing being a Lady of the North with everyone not just those she knew well.. “I was just taking a walk and saw the opportunity of some passing company and I couldn’t resist the chance of a conversation with someone new. I’m Bethany Ryswell.”
‘’Just be careful.I’ve sacrificed my personal happiness for all the wrong reasons. I just hope you won’t do the same.’’ Alannys thought that the girl looked like her own ghost, when she was young and happy.A fair warning,was all that she could give to Bethany.Something that someone should have given to her a long time ago.’’And be careful who you trust.Trust is a difficult thing. Whether it’s finding the right people to trust or trusting the right people will do the wrong thing.But trusting your heart is the riskiest thing of all.In the end the only person we can truly trust is ourself.’’
’’I can assure you that those stories were only the best.’’ She had never seen the Rills before, but her books were full of different tales about the girl’s home. ’’Yes, of course, my brother taught me. And I would love to see and learn new things about your home.’’ Alannys always loved learning. Learning was her only escape from a terrible husband. ’’But before we go, I just need to change my clothes.’’ She put on a pair breeches and a vest made of wool. The harsh climate wasn’t a big problem, especially for someone from the Iron Islands, but she didn’t want to catch a cold.
The words were of little comfort to Bethany as they seemed to confirm what she’d long come to believe herself. Personal happiness was hard to come by for women in their position and while she still clung to the hope she might at least be content in whatever the future had planned for her it was only realistic to expect that she might not be afforded such luxuries. Alannys’ words reaffirmed her decision to not have any illusions or romantic notions towards what was in store for her life and the advice was something that she knew could prove important to follow. “Thank you for your advice, I shall try to follow it as best I can.” The honesty with which the other woman spoke had moved her, it was far too rare that anyone ever did and Bethany always appreciated it, a smile replacing her more solemn expression. “Thank you for speaking honestly with me also, not too many people feel like they can speak with frankness to anyone.”
“I’m very glad to here that, I sometimes worry that the weather puts people off the beauty of the place.” And it was a beauty she was quite sure she would defend and champion until her dying day. “Then it would be my pleasure to show you as much as I can before nightfall and it gets to dark. Perhaps tomorrow as well if I haven’t bored you enough with it all already.” She doubted that Alannys was the sort of woman who bored easily when shown new things, she had seemed far too genuine in her enthusiasm for that, but Bethany had wanted to lift the mood slightly and a small joke at her own expense seemed like as good a way as any. “Of course.” Bethany herself had long given up changing out of her dresses having learnt to ride just as well in them as in something different. It appeased her father slightly when she rode off that at least she was still dresses like a lady.
Gazing out over the Blackwater Bay from her stance above the docks, Genna briefly wondered how much it would cost her to hire a ship to take her back home, back to relative safety. She knew she could easily just ask her brother to arrange her return to Casterly Rock, but she also knew there would be consequences to those actions; it could potentially be seen as a tactic on Lord Tywin’s part, a move to get his family out of the way before starting a war. Of course it was a far fetched notion, but those were the sort the Mad King excelled in as of late. Genna knew she could never ask her brother to take any such risk for her, especially if it could endanger him and his children.
Genna felt trapped. If she were to stay in Kings Landing, she was a prime target to be used against Tywin. But if she were to leave, she would be opening that position up to her niece and nephews. They were her family and the closest thing she had to children of her own. How could she abandon them?
The lioness closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. She could almost pretend she were home, standing atop the cliffs on a peaceful summer day. And she nearly smiled.
The view was captivating but more so were the thoughts of where the sea could take her, anywhere away from the constrictions of the role she was expected to fulfil. Such thoughts she scarcely spoke of but were often present in her mind, no matter how many times she reminded herself of just how good she had it. Even knowing how fortunate she was to have been given such a life through nothing more than the luck of being born into a well off family, Bethany had never been able to stop longing for a different life.
After wandering along the edge of the docks she saw she wasn’t alone as a blonde woman stood at the end of them. It was a quiet spot and Bethany could understand how the other woman appeared lost in her own thoughts, after all it was a frequent occurrence for herself too.
Having remained unnoticed and not wanting to disturb her, she had been about to turn to leave and was in the process of it when something made her want to stay. Her curiosity got the better of her and she found herself taking a few steps closer and clearing her throat, waiting for the other woman to turn.
Prince Rhaegar’s wife, Elyria, had once been as thin as Cersei - at least, that’s what the young lioness told herself whenever she saw the pair of Targaryens prancing about the halls of the Red Keep with their brats clinging to their arms like leeches. Cersei took note of the way Rhaegar would hold her teeny-tiny waist, and how a single arm of his wrapped nearly around the girth of her womanly figure.
In an attempt to best the dragon mother in a game she never knew was being played, Cersei had begun to starve herself, not extensively, of course, but just enough so that she’d be able to trim down her already shapely figure. For the past several weeks, she’d been giving her maidservants her meals rather than eating them herself, claiming that it came only from the generosity in her heart. If anyone who knew her could have heard it, they’d know much better than to believe in her silly talk.
Walking along the market stalls, poking around for fabrics she’d like for a new dress, the lioness felt a sudden pang at her stomach, followed by a throb in her head. With a pained grunt, Cersei doubled over, and began to fall back. She had fainted for a few moments, feeling a pair of hands catch her before she cracked her pretty skull open in the road.
Once again she had left behind the guard that her father had sent with her in an attempt to ensure that her longing for adventure and her habit of exploring everywhere didn’t get in the way of her acting like the proper lady as was expected. It seemed to be getting easier and easier each time, almost laughably so, and the poor man didn’t seem to be adapting to it in the slightest and Bethany wasted no time taking advantage of that to enjoy a little freedom.
Kings Landing was the sort of place she felt she could never get bored of. While it wasn’t perhaps as somewhere she considered as beautiful as her home, but then she doubted she’d ever find such a place, it had it’s own charm and there was something new on almost every winding street. The market was by far her favourite place so far and she marvelled at all of the stalls. The fabrics she saw were all beautiful but she had plenty of beautiful dresses, most of which were far more ornate and delicate than what she’d prefer in her home but they made her seem less out of place in the capital. However, it wasn’t the wares that were being sold that had her attention, it was the people.
One in particular caught her gaze. The way she held herself it was clear she was of high birth and most likely a powerful family. Her musings were put to a stop as she saw her begin to faint. Putting out her hands to steady the blonde girl she tried not to stumble from it. While the other girl was slim and small, Bethany herself had always been rather slight herself and there was no circumstance where she could ever be seen as tall. After a few moments of waiting for the blonde to recover she spoke, concern colouring her voice. “Are you alright, my lady?”
Everything seemed, all at once, distant and small, and there was a deep silence within her head.She was aware of the sound of the rain outside the windows.Earlier that day she was enjoying in the fresh air,cool even in summer.Cassana missed the wind in her hair.
Up the narrow stairs,the grand room was very cold.The room was dark except for a small fire,its flickering lights were dancing gently over her face.There was silence in the room, except for the small crackle of the fire.Losing her patience,Cassana had felt the cold getting the better of her.She poured herself a glass of wine in the silver cup.Fearing that she might spill the wine on her velvet gown, she had taken a deep swallow,before she took a step forward. Relaxing in her chair,that stood near the balcony Cassana watched with deceptive idleness the people who were trying to hide from the rain.Perhaps it was their freedom that drew her attention to them.A part of her was out on some hills, following the light and the summer wind.
A sound of the footsteps caught her attention.Go away,whoever you are. Cassana thought, but she did not put the thought into words.Pride, she thought drearily,was her old friend.It was not her husband, Lord Steffon; he was far away from her.At last she said: ‘’Well, don’t just stand there,there’s plenty of wine for both of us.’’
Bethany was no stranger to rain and usually she enjoyed the feel of the cool droplets on her skin. Being a Northerner tended to give a certain resilience to the less loved weather, but today she had no interest in remaining outside and letting the water touch her. Even with her leaving the rain as soon as she could it had still left a reminder of itself on her skin, hair and clothes. Deciding to find some source of warmth to dry off in before she caught a chill she made her way further into the castle.
After winding her way up a rather narrow staircase that echoed those that were found in her own home Bethany, found herself following a corridor until she finally spotted a room with a fire, realising too late that it was already occupied. As the voice called out to her she sighed slightly, wondering what situation she’d gotten herself into this time. One thing she took from it was that whoever had spoken to her seemed to what to be alone, regardless of whoever it was.
“Forgive me, my lady.” Taking a few more steps into the room so that she could see more clearly who she was speaking with Bethany instantly recognised the woman before her as the lady of the house from stories she had been told. Cassana Baratheon radiated confidence and power and Bethany couldn’t help but feel slightly uncertain in the presence of such a strong woman. This was the very woman who, along with her husband, had ventured far and wide to bring back Westeros’ future queen. It was a tale that she longed to hear but she doubted that it would be something that would ever come up. “I’m afraid I’m not much of a wine drinker and I’m sure you’d prefer to return to the peace you had before I interrupted it.” She offered an apologetic smile but found it hard to hold the other woman’s gaze as she was already scolding herself for disturbing such an imposing woman, at least that’s what Bethany found her to be.
Rumors were inescapable in the capital, and Elyria had long been the subject of them since she arrived in Westeros. Elyria had been seething all day. Her? A Blackfyre? A bastard at birth, yes, but not a Blackyre. She was a Tyran, her ancestors were the rulers of Tyria and they were dragon riders. They were not a House built upon bastardy. “Damn you all,” She muttered under her breath, hearing footsteps after she spoke the last word. “Pardon,” She said aloud, correcting herself. “I was not aware there was another person here.” Elyria had been in the book vault that belonged to the maester nearly all day.
Upon hearing that the maester’s vault was the place to visit for the best of reading material Bethany had wasted little time in heading there. After a smalls amount of time she located the book that had caught her interest, stretching as far as her small frame would let her before she finally managed to pull it out. The weight of it almost threw her off balance as she brought it down and she took a few steps backwards, her feet scuffing on the floor as she did so. A voice startled her as she was still recovering from it, causing her grasp on the book she was holding to loosen slightly. Regaining control of it, Bethany tucked it under her arm to prevent any more fumblings before turning to face the direction she’d heard the words spoken from. She still wasn’t quite sure what had been said but she was fairly certain there had been an apology of sorts give, although why she had little idea of. “I didn’t hear anything that you should feel you have to apologise for, my lady.” She replied truthfully, in fact she hadn’t heard much of anything that was said such was her focus on the task at hand. “I’m sorry if I startled you, I’ll be on my way soon enough and leave you in peace.”
King’s Landing was good, but it wouldn’t ever be Casterly Rock.
Jaime had been serving as ser Arthur’s squire for a little now - a little that was long enough for him to know the capital, and discover he couldn’t understand why people liked it so much. Why would anyone want to be here, honestly? He knew Cersei wanted to be here because she wanted to be queen.
Why she wanted to, however, he didn’t quite understand either.
Those thoughts crossed his mind as he glanced to the city from a window for a brief moment, as he passed by. It looked beautiful from far, but it wasn’t so pretty when you walked through the streets.
Ser Arthur had just dismissed him for the rest of the day, and unable to find his sister, he didn’t really had something to do. And so, Jaime was walking towards his chambers, without minding his path too much, when he collided with someone in a hallway. “My apologies” he asked, even before looking at who it was - you could never know, and if it was someone like the king, Jaime would rather had apologized quickly.
Bethany tilted her head to one side slightly as she focused on the tapestry that depicted some battle that had been fought long ago. The rich greens and blues and the reds of the dragon fire had captured her attention and she’d been finding hard to tear her eyes away from it. All the work and craftsmanship that had gone in to it was remarkable and she admired it so much that she tried to commit ever inch of it to memory. Feeling someone collide with her side she turned to face them fully, hearing their apology as she did.
Already shaking her head at the apology given Bethany replied to the boy. “Not at all.” She waved her hand slightly as though she was trying to dispel his apologies. It was quite nice to hear one as she always seemed to be the one giving the apologies rather than receiving them, whether she was at fault or not it just seemed better to do so. This time, however, Bethany was certain that some of the blame lay with her. She had been far too caught up in her own mind as she was far too often these days, to pay proper attention to what was going on around her. “In fact it should probably be me that should apologise, I was far too busy taking in this tapestry to even mind how far into the corridor I was standing.”
Bethany couldn’t help but give the blonde boy a curious look as she wondered who he was. Clearly not a servant of any sort but she’d been struggling to keep up with who was in the capital and who wasn’t.
Euron gave the trusting girl a smile filled with warmth, and shifted to the front of the bench. With a surprisingly delicate movement, he draw a thumb along the fabric of the dress, before grabbing a fistful of it and yanking the woman down with a sharp tug. In truth, her slight was minimal, but something about her struck Euron as meek, and he was not a man to miss an opportunity.
“Somewhere slights like that would earn you a black eye, and it would be an awful shame to ruin that pretty face of yours, wouldn’t it?”
Despite half expecting the man to pull a stunt like he did, Bethany was still caught off guard. She’d been too caught up in watching how his initial movements seemed uncharacteristic gentle to brace herself for when he pulled on her dress. After a gasp of surprise she composed herself and pushed away from him.
Feeling foolish she fought to regain some control. “That somewhere must be rather far away for I don’t think I know anyone who would consider my words a slight worthy of violence.” When he mentioned her face she just shrugged, laughing slightly as he thought she’d be that concerned with the way she looked. Her appearance had never been high in the things she considered important. “As for my face it wouldn’t bother me all that much, perhaps it would make it more interesting.”
Barbrey had just gotten back to the rills after being away at Winterfell for an entire fortnight, she remembers when she was just a girl and a fortnight away from home felt like forever but now she’d give anything to stay at winterfell longer. She loved it there, the people the scenery just everything. Barbrey ran her delicate fingers through her long raven hair letting out a long breath she wanted desperately to find her sister and tell her all about her travels. If there was one sure place the young brunette was sure to find her sister, it was the dining hall; she smiled brightly when she caught sight of Bethany, skipping right up to her older sister placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Dear sister, have you forgotten how to read? I haven’t heard from you since I left for winterfell.” A laughed escaped her lips when she noticed she caught her sister off guard. “My apologies, did I interrupt something?”
The two weeks that had passed since she’d last seen her sister had been a contradiction to Bethany. The days without her sister by her side had flown by and seemed like an age all at once and she’d quite lost track of the days. Knowing how much Barbrey adored being at Winterfell she didn’t begrudge her sister her time there as she left her alone, even if she never really saw the appeal herself. To her The Rills would always be more than good enough and she far preferred it to the home of the Starks.
“Barbrey.” Her face lit up with a warm smile as she came face to face with her sister. “You’ll have to forgive me, my letter writing skills aren’t what they used to be and that wasn’t helped by the fact that nothing happened here worth the parchment and ink it would have taken to write. Besides, now we have the opportunity to catch up.” Bethany shook her head at her sister’s question “Not at all, sister, how can it be an interruption when nothing is better than spending time with you?”
Aware that he had struck a nerve (the Northerners were always so defensive of their homeland), Elbert quickly said, “Yes, you’re quite right. I do apologise, my lady. The cold again, I fear. I often hear many a complaint regarding the altitude from visitors to The Eyrie. Makes your ears go funny if you’re not used to it.” He paused to rub his arms furiously again. Couldn’t they afford to light at least one bloody fire in this place? “I should still like to see The Wall at some point. A great block of ice towering thousands of feet in the heir, keeping us safe from wildlings and white walkers and what lurks beyond. Perhaps I’ll ask my uncle if we can take a detour.”
Elbert would have liked nothing more than to tell Bethany how, no, his uncle wasn’t usually this vague and that these were increasingly dark days. But he was trusting no one that his Uncle Jon did not tell him to right now. If Elbert had truly been sent to intimidate the Lord of the Rills, could any of the Ryswells be trusted?
“He’s getting old, my lady.” came the reply instead, complete with a disarming grin. “He forgets to get dressed some days. One day, he came to pass judgement on a thief in his small clothes and I laughed so hard I almost fell straight through the Moon Door.” A lie, of course. Jon Arryn’s mind was as sharp as ever.
“Well…not exactly a pretty thing, per se, but I did witness a woman fight off six armed men at the docks for a loaf of bread. Watched it all from a balcony in The Red Keep in King’s Landing. They all had knives and she had nothing, but she beat them all silly. Used their own strength against them. Sauntered off home with the loaf of bread tucked under her arm.” Elbert paused to think back to it. “Marvellous, it was.”
Nodding at his words about the Eyrie, she replied. “I suppose then, that we are both quite used to guests behaving oddly in our homes. It seems only fair we give them some leeway in their actions.” At the mention of guests and upon seeing him rub his arms she realised that she’d be a slightly neglectful host, even if he was an unexpected guest. “If you’re cold, my lord, it’s warmer in the rooms further in. I could take you if you’d like?” Gesturing down the corridor, she smiled at his words about The Wall “I’m sure it is quite a sight. You will have to stop here again on your way home should you go, for I would love to hear your thoughts of it. It is woven into Ryswell history yet I have never seen it so someone else’s description will have to do.”
As yet another slight pause in their conversation confirmed her suspicions that there was something else going on, Bethany couldn’t help but wonder what it was the young lord seemed to determined to keep from her. Even the smile he sent her way did nothing to dampen her cynicism either so she smoothed out her skirts and waited patiently for a reply.
Not believing for a second that a man such as Jon Arryn had suddenly lost his wits she said as much to his nephew. “I’m sorry to hear that your uncle has taken such a turn for I heard quite recently that he was as sound a mind as ever. It must be hard for you to have it all happen all of a sudden.” Her words were more to let Elbert know that she was no fool rather than to pry for information that in truth she didn’t know what she could do with. It wasn’t like she was well connected enough to start any gossip nor would she ever want to cause any problems for anyone in the hope that they would do the same to her.
Bethany couldn’t help but laugh, his story had disarmed her slightly more so than his smile. “That certainly does sound like quite the feat, perhaps I shall go and track down this woman and see if there’s anything she can teach me. Who knows, it might come in handy one day.” With her slim build and short height she was well prepared for any mocking that the knight before her might send her way but that had never deterred her from her wish to at the very least be able to defend herself, whether it was ladylike or not.
She shrugged the cloak from her shoulders; inside the court it was warmer, out of the biting wind. ‘’Our minds sometimes need to escape from the dull reality.’’ She heard herself say, without volition.’’Reality can be very cruel towards people with gentle hearts.’’
‘’A pleasure to meet you,Bethany.’’ She made a deep curtsey. ’’I am Alannys,the wife of Lord Balon Greyjoy.’’ With the eyes of her living body Alannys had never seen the Rills.She has spent most of her life living on the Iron Islands. She was, a prisoner in her husband’s castle. He might say, or even believe, that he had placed her there for her own protection, but the truth was otherwise; his jealousy had led him to imprison her.At last she resolved on a desperate solution.’’ I have heard many stories about the Rills,and I was hoping you could show me your home.’’
Hoping that her voice did not carry a bitterness that she did not feel she replied to who she now knew to be the Queen of The Iron Islands. “I cannot say that I blame my mind for my imagination is far more colourful and enticing than anything I have yet to be lucky enough to experience so far.” While she had been lucky in what she had seen and experience so far Bethany knew there was so much more out there.
“A pleasure to meet you too.” Bethany smiled again and returned the curtsey with one of her own. “It would be my pleasure, my lady. I hope all the stories have been good ones.” The chance to show off the best of the home that she loved so dearly was not one that she would ever bring herself to pass up. Too few people ever visited The Rills, those that did often found it too cold to truly appreciate the beauty of it. It was a wild beauty that tended to catch most people at least slightly off guard. “Do you ride at all? It is just that I'm of the opinion that once you have seen inside our house you get to experience my home a lot better while riding.”
“Well yes, you’re quite right about that. But I have been meaning to speak with you about something,” Barbrey smiled quite innocently, masking the nerves that seemed to be fluttering around in her stomach. The younger Rsywell girl believed entirely that she could tell her sister anything without judgement, but it wasn’t being judged that worried her. Barbrey simply didn’t want to disappoint Bethany. “The only way you can be completely sure would be to wait for father to come to you with a man who wishes for your hand,” and she couldn’t think of anything worse. Despite it being the norm, Barbrey didn’t want her marriage to be nothing but a political arrangement and the only affections to be solely for producing heirs. That just wasn’t the life she wanted for herself, or her sister. Even if Bethany was more at peace with that idea, she wanted to see her happy too. “Will you walk with me?”
“You have? That sounds slightly ominous but I do trust you so I’m sure it’s nothing bad.” Bethany smiled at her sister, confident that nothing that Barbrey could tell her would ever make her think any less of her. She adored her sister and while she knew neither of them were perfect, she’d always considered Barbrey ‘flaws’ as traits which only made her all the more endearing to both her and others.”That is if any man ever does ask for my hand. We don’t stand much of a chance when there are still Stark, Tyrell, Lannister and Tully girls to be wed.” It was something that bothered Bethany though, not matter how indifferently she said it. In the world they were in a lady needed a husband to be secure, as much as sshe hated to have to rely on another person. “Of course I will, Bree, I would never turn down an opportunity to spend more time with you, especially time away from others.”
