I guess we’re all in a regency romance mood aye. So I suppose we’ll introduce the cast and add in some hcs. Why not?
-Jack has become the head of the family and oversees the Overland’s company, which owns a very big ice cream franchise called Frosti’s Ice Cream, is part of the ice trade, and manufactures ice skates.
- Their father died of scarlet fever when Jack was 16
-Jack has vitiligo. In his childhood, amidst all the teasing, he would laugh it off and in his characteristically playful way would boast the he was “touched by winter!”
- Emma has a bunny called Aster, after Jack had jokingly suggested they name it after their tutor, Mr. Bunnymund
-He’s very protective of his sister and ensures she has a good education and encourages her to have fun and let loose whenever she can, and often scandalises people with how much he lets her get away with things that are unfit for a young woman of her stature in the eyes of upstanding society
-Despite his very laid back and carefree attitude, which people often times make the mistake of thinking he’s ill-equipped of running his business because of it, he takes his duty as head of the house very seriously.
What else could explain his current predicament? He blames Astrid. Surely, if she hadn’t bullied him into getting some fresh air, he would have been content to finish his paperwork on time.
“Hiccup, if I hear the word ’paperwork’ out of your mouth again, I’m going to hit you.”
“You’d hit a cripple?” She had promptly slammed the door in his face, barring him from his home.
Now, here he was. Full of fresh air and frustratingly lost. He thought to simply follow the trail in the forest and back. He didn’t expect the place to be a maze and for his sense of direction to suddenly fail him.
His leg was sore and he was in a foul mood. This will be the last time he’d let Astrid man handle him into going outside that’s for sure!
“Alright there?”
Hiccup stopped, whirling around to see a dirty young man lounging on a low hanging branch. His hair was a nest, full of twigs and leaves, and his plain clothes were stained with mud and dirt. Not to mention his feet were bare and just as muddy. Some commoner or stable boy skipping work, perhaps?
It’s not until the young man huffed a laugh that Hiccup realised he uttered his thoughts aloud. The boy seemed amused at his scrutiny and waved a hand.
Hiccup scowled at the state of him.
“What are you doing here? This is private property.”
The boy grinned as if Hiccup just said something funny.
“I’m aware.” He quirked a brow, grin still in place. “Are you lost?”
Hiccup could feel his embarrassment hot on his cheeks. The nerve!
“Of course not! This is the Haddock estate and you’re trespassing.”
The boy chuckled, shaking his head. “The Haddock estate is twenty minutes that way.” He pointed to the left. “This land belongs to the Overlands. Are you sure you’re not lost?”
As if his face can’t get any redder—!
Hiccup strode swiftly to the direction the boy pointed, determined to get home and forget about the mortifying interaction.
“You’re welcome!”
God willing, he’d never have to see the dirty stable boy’s face again.

Hiccup is very sure of his flat earth explanations, never mind Jack who can literally fly and see the earth is round. The first time Hiccup gave him the ick 😭
@joghurtart is currently working on a comic based on chapter 43 of the fanfic “Of the Northmost Winds & Skies” - when she showed me the sketch to this panel, I had to ask if I could animate it.

Hiccup’s brows twitched in confusion when Jack took another step closer to him. If he made another face when Jack kissed him, Jack didn’t know; he’d closed his eyes.

How did Hiccup spend his thousand + years as a spirit?
This question has been swirling in my mind for more than a month.
Of course chapter 43 of OTNWAS destroyed me (in the best way, kudos to @jjackfrost for creating THE masterpiece <3) I really needed to let my feelings out and bring Hiccup's past to light.
There are some scenes with Jack, but I intentionally decided to focus on the first thousand years of Hiccup and Toothless as wind spirits and Hiccup's life on Berk, with his family and friends. And the loss that came with it.
(AND I KNOW I KNOW, the ending might be a bit bitter, but if you watch the animatic backwards it finishes with Hiccup who finally recognizes Jack <3)
