ENGLISH | Today’s date is September 17th 2019, and Taylor Swift has just announced that she will be visiting Brazil during a series of shows promoting Lover, her latest album.
We’re 15 Argentinian swifties, and we got to hear the news through social media: our country is not in the list of places Taylor’s going to visit. However, we have one certainty: we all know we’re going to be there. We haven’t decided when we’re going to travel, how many installments we’ll need to afford the tickets or if we’re gonna travel by plane, bus or if we’ll rent a car. Most of us haven’t even met in real life, but we know that, despite all of this, we have an unbreakable bond in the years we’ve spent wishing we could see Taylor Swift live.
This blog will chronicle our adventure. Our ultimate goal? Being in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 18th 2020 singing Taylor’s songs, the news ones, and the one’s we’ve been listening to for years. The ones that make us scream, and those that make us feel so much we can’t even sing out loud. The ones we listen to with our headphones on, and the ones we play at full volume at parties. The ones that make us feel understood, and maybe a little less alone.
To us, Taylor Swift is much more than just music: she’s friendship, love, she’s poetry. From now on she’s also adventure and achieving our dreams. Will you come with us on this journey?
ESPAÑOL | Hoy es 17 de septiembre de 2019 y Taylor Swift anunció que va a ir a Brasil en una serie de conciertos mundiales, para presentar Lover, su último disco.
Somos quince swifties argentinas y nos toca enterarnos de la noticia por redes sociales: nuestro país, Argentina, no está en la lista de lugares próximos a ser visitados por Taylor. Sin embargo, tenemos una certeza: todas sabemos que vamos a estar ahí. Todavía no definimos qué día vamos a viajar, en cuántas cuotas vamos a sacar los pasajes, si vamos a ir en avión, colectivo o alquilar un auto. La gran mayoría de nosotras no nos conocemos por fuera de internet, pero sabemos, a pesar de todo, que nos une un deseo irremediable de años que es poder ver a Taylor Swift en vivo por primera vez.
Este blog va a contar nuestra aventura. ¿El objetivo final? Estar el 18 de julio de 2020 en San Pablo, Brasil, cantando las canciones nuevas y las que escuchamos hace años también. Las que nos hacen llorar pero también las que cantamos entre risas. Las que gritamos y las que no nos animamos a cantar en voz alta. Las que escuchamos con auriculares y las que ponemos en fiestas con el volumen al máximo.
Taylor Swift para nosotras es más que música: es amistad, es amor, es poesía. Ahora también va a ser aventura y sueños cumplidos. ¿Nos acompañás?
