Women in Kerala empower themselves with Kudumbashree

The Kerala Govt initiative ‘Kudumbashree’ is said to have created 19,136 job opportunities in the non-farming sector in the last 60 days post lockdown curbs. Kudumbashree is a Neighbourhood Group, established with an aim to eradicate by empowering women. Through skill training, thousands of women are now self-employed or have waged jobs.

Mumbai Police find commission of offence by Sushant sisters

Mumbai Police filed an affidavit in the Bombay High Court against a plea by Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters, seeking dismissal of a case against them. The affidavit said that the FIR has been filed against Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh based on the report of commission of offence. They were accused of sending a fake medical prescription to Sushant.

Parents helped to get out of trauma from abuse: Ira Khan

Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan, who is not hesitant in sharing her mental health on social media, recently revealed her experience of being sexually abused at the age of 14. She said this odd experience might have contributed to her depression. She said it did not scare her but communicating this to her parents helped her to tide over the situation.

Pandemic takes away Mukesh Ambani’s $7 billion from wealth

A fall in demand for the transportation fuel took away the share value of Reliance Industries, thus losing almost $7 billion from Mukesh Ambani’s net worth. The RIL reported a 15% decline in quarterly profit to Rs 9,570 crore due to the pandemic restrictions. Meanwhile, profit from his Jio communication nearly tripled over the same period.

Exercise can stall cancer growth by boosting immunity: study

A study published in the journal eLife says that regular exercise can slow down cancer growth. Physical activity changes the metabolism of the immune system's cytotoxic T cells (the white blood cells specialized in killing cancer cells) and improves their ability to attack cancer cells. Experts hope to use this finding to develop immunotherapies.

Pompeo fortifies US commitment towards India’s sovereignty

The visiting US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo promised any support to India as deterrence against China. Referring to the Galwan valley incident and the Chinese aggression along the border, Pompeo stated the US commitments towards protecting India’s sovereignty and its liberty. India and the US also signed a Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement.

UK Taskforce doubts 1st generation COVID vaccines’ efficacy

UK Vaccine Taskforce Chair Kate Bingham doubted the effectiveness of the first generation of COVID vaccines. She said it is unlikely to work for everyone and likely to be imperfect. She also urged to be prepared that COVID vaccines might not prevent infection but rather reduce symptoms. She noted the inadequate global capacity for vaccine production.
