When it's better to keep quiet..
Sadly, there are times that no matter what you do, people will only see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. Confronting these people to try to make a point is useless because in their minds, whatever you will say won't matter because you've already been judged from the start. At these times, it's better to hush to obviate further dissension.
Do not be in a hurry to reach your destination. Set your goals, make plans and take it one step at a time. It’s not a competition of how fast you can get there, but how determined you are to get there!
Two years ago I experienced my 1st hike. It was also the day I realized how I took for granted everything I have. I saw people living in the mountains without electricity, internet, high-end gadgets, but still manage to be happy because they were satisfied with the simple things they have. Mothers wash their clothes in the river while their children bathe in it while fathers fill up water containers in a cart pulled by a carabao. I asked them how they manage to live like this and I was surprised with their answers. “Masaya naman kami ng ganito, ma'am. Mabuti pa nga ang ganito, simple lang.” I felt a tiny crush in my heart. I felt guilty wanting for more things one after the other. Of not being content of what I have instead I always complain. Sometimes, we (from the city) feel sorry for these people for thinking we are luckier than them, but when we live with them, we will realize that they feel sorry for us for thinking that way because we do not know what happiness truly means.
