27 February was the International Polar Bear Day! This maritime bears live in arctic and their hunting and therefore their life is dependent on ice. With the climate change the ice starts to melt earlier in the year when the bears don’t yet have enough fat to survive through summer and autumn seasons. Thinner ice during the winter makes it difficult to reach their prey. And because of the reduction of sea-ice they have to swim longer distances which leads to energy loss and sometimes drowning. All of it causes lower reproduction and lower survival rates for their cubs, and it puts the species in danger.

And you can help to save them by decreasing your carbon output.

Here are some examples how to do that - turn down your thermostat a bit - minimize your driving - support local market and buy organic food - switch to LED lightbulbs - control your energy and water use - recycle as much as possible

Also you can support organisations that helps the cause.
