Hoooo boy has my skin been Bad recently :(((
your mental/physical health and it’s setbacks do not define you. you need to keep trying. If you try, you can succeed in anything. we believe in you.
be sure to bundle up now that it’s getting cold… not just physically, but emotionally, too. surround your heart with as many warm thoughts and sentiments as you can, and remember that it’s okay to put on that extra sweater and spend a little more time on yourself and your wellbeing when the wind picks up and the temperatures drop
this is really it huh? millenials are old now. they can’t handle kids dancing just bc its from something they’re not into. bc its not aimed at them. congratulations you’re doing what you said you wouldn’t and are turning into your parents and grandparents. i know this is how it always goes but millenials were So Sure they’d break the cycle and look at them. mad at kids doing fun lil dances. shut up
Okay so real talk here….. Has anyone else ever wished and wished that they could go through some debilitating trauma or fall into a coma just so that they could stop touching their skin long enough for it to heal (or stop pulling)?? Like I know this is such an awful thing to wish for such a dumb reason, but am I the only one?
Been there and done that. I was in a coma and everything healed up, but the obsession was still there waking up. I still wouldn’t choose anything else, but waking up.
I’m sorry about your coma. Also I know my original post may seem a little insensitive but I totally understand that people really go through things like that I just wanted to know if I wasn’t the only one that had those weird/dumb thoughts
If only there was some way to just wipe away the compulsion to pick!!
One of the most common Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviour (BFRB) is compulsive hair-pulling, also known as Trichotillomania.
A Tip I Discovered Today
If you have trich this may help. If you are at home and you have the urge to pull a crap ton of hair out than hop in a shower/tub and wet your hair. Then you need to put some conditioner or oil in your hair. You won’t be able to get a good grip on your hair resulting in no pulls. A tip from your trich pal
Dermatillomania
Moving your shirt strategically so you don’t bleed all over it
Here’s to all the people
With scars from their skin condition
Who have ever been told not to wear shorts or T-shirts because they should ‘cover it up’
Who feel like their body is gross or ugly
Who have been pointed at and called disgusting
Who always wear long clothes to cover up
Who get people without a skin condition telling them how to manage it
Who have 6843 different creams and lotions and have lost track of which ones they’re supposed to be using right now.
You’re all beautiful, you’re all fantastic and you’re all doing a great job
learning to move around discomfort
concept: my bfrb is in a lull period, I feel great. this time it never comes back even if I don’t feel great.
it’s so weird that i never heard anybody talk about this, but… one of the things you will notice when you start recovering is that your old coping mechanisms will stop working. they might even start hurting. which is absolutely scary, and you might even find yourself being nostalgic for worse times when you could still give into those impulses and feel the pain ease off for a while. but they stop working because you are healing. take a deep breath. see how far you’ve come. you’ll go much further yet. be proud of yourself.
