Leaving abruptly was the only option.
Without waiting to wipe off
the stain of apology off her lips.
No procrastination.
Not this time.
Unsure if the apology was a genuine attempt,
Or just another siren song.
They were just incompatible,
No one right, no one wrong.
The tales of Glittery eyes,
Alluring lips were long gone.
Back had arched a little too much,
Almost blinded, eyes shut too long.
Had to gather the courage to run away,
He has been a coward,
Far, too freaking long.
They questioned every inch of me,
My loyalty, my faith, my existence.
No matter how much i tried.
They say i don’t belong out here,
‘cos i am in love too much,
with the other side.
They gave me two options to survive,
Wear the chains and roam outside,
Or get inside a cage and be free inside.
I burnt my wings, shed my skin,
Nude to the bare bones.
Options have only one downside,
Someone might just discover,
Exactly what makes you feel mortified.
In case you are wondering,
I still wear the halo, like my pride.
Last traces of tissues withered away,
Tangible signs of mortality, erased.
Sheets of snow delayed the inevitable,
The soul still floated alive,
For they could only bury the body, presumably dead.
Snow thawed, remains forgotten,
Grave turned into a flower bed.
Night falls, inviting fireflies.
Scattered across the mountain,
Countless dreams, overwhelming the sight.
A tiny warm light settled on ring finger,
The one they say goes straight to the heart.
Frostbitten and cold, the frozen heart,
flutters, at a familiar touch.
A touch of unrequited intimacy.
Unimaginable by any stretch,
Two restless souls find company.
Hoping for sunshine
