Artist Profile | Invisible Forest Medicine
Dake Lindelef is the gentle force behind Invisible Forest Medicine, a small-batch line of herbal tinctures based in Los Angeles. Dake draws upon his studies in alchemy, herbalism and Traditional Chinese Medicine to create quality handmade tinctures, ranging from the highly sought-after Gynostemma to White Willow’s Bark (natural aspirin!). I sat down with Dake to learn more about his philosophy and practice.
WHAT ARE HERBAL TINCTURES? A highly refined extract of an herb used to elevate the systems of the body.
WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND YOUR COMPANY? The philosophy behind the tinctures I make is "Zi Du, Du Ren", which translates to "Uplift Yourself and Help Others".
FAVORITE QUOTE? "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." - Albert Einstein.
DO YOU HAVE A CONSISTENT PRACTICE? I have a daily Qigong practice. Most days, I meet online with my longtime friend Zach Snyder and go through a routine. I usually have an active routine in the early morning and a still form in the evening. Qigong and Ren Xue have become a big part of my life.
WHAT IS QIGONG? I describe Qigong as an ancient Chinese art form. The literal translation of "Qi" is energy and information, "gong" is discipline. Many people do Qigong for different reasons, to strengthen martial arts etc. Personally, I use Qigong in my life development and healing, specifically Ren Xue.
TELL ME A GOOD TRAVEL STORY. One of my favorite travels stories starts with a pick pocket in Athens and ends at an artist colony on Crete with me dancing on top of a 30 person table. Haha!
