Imagine a reach lord hating valyrians so much he glazes a dornish woman and refers to dornishmen as the in-group. Besides the child abuse and the war mongering and the religious fanaticism and the misogyny and the classism and the hostages and the murder and the public indecency and the occupation and the toxic work environment and the theft Ormund is literally so progressive. woke king. Vote Green No Matter Wheen
Ormund promised to defund the police and, upon finding that they already didn’t have any money, instead defunded them of their internal organs. WHO is doing it like him

Gwayne’s little speech was not a genuine offer btw, he was pretty clearly bullshitting Criston to try to talk him out of what they both know is a suicide mission. He’s freaking the fuck out and taking the information Criston gave him last episode (Criston’s father lost everything when the lord they served lost favor) to try to offer a solution (I am highborn and I will make sure you have a place, see? No need to kill us both). There was a stilted tone and a grimace when Gwayne said “A knight of your…stature would be….most welcome” and Criston caught it immediately because he’s lived in king’s landing for 20 years and besides the fact that he knows goddamn well when someone’s trying to talk him down because this isn’t even the first time a Hightower tried to talk him down from killing himself, what exactly did living get him then? What would it get him now, a few more months of life being a guard dog at the whims of a different jackass? To Ormund, who Gwayne has just told him is a miserable cunt? No, he’s delayed his death for long enough and he will not be choosing a clean death, and it can’t be an easy one — those are too easily avoidable. No one will be coming to take the blade from his throat this time, he will make sure of it.
Gwayne being confronted with the fact that Criston truly, honestly wants to die, wants them all to die. The stranger offers us rest. To never be a servant again, but remembered in song for centuries. Not as what he is - a man broken and destroyed by the very war he craved - but as a knight.
And that line "a song [...] that even Queen Alicent might hear" and at most the hint of a reaction, of a sneerful "oh, really?" on Gwayne's face. When their first interaction was Gwayne trying to intimidate Criston in the good old patriarchal "don't look at my sister" fashion. But Gwayne has finally realised that Criston is beyond such patriarchal and knightly notions of honour. You don't have to pretend now, because you just realised that he's already dead and you are already dead. And you can dream of Oldtown all you want, but the only way you will leave this story is through the grave. A feast for crows.
