THE PRODUCERS (2001) dir. Susan Stroman
what kinda producers did ya'll watch ⁉️ lol anyway
pls i hope this posts anyway who else returned to their childhood fixation The Producers (2005)
The Jewish Chronicle Happy 100th birthday to Mel Brooks from Max Bialystock!
Andy Nyman, who plays Max Bialystock in the West End's current run of the iconic musical The Producers, wishes a happy birthday to the OG producer, Mel Brooks.
Nyman has described Brooks's 1967 film The Producers as an "act of amazing Jewish healing". Like Zero Mostel, who first played Max Bialystock, Nyman has also played Tevye in the hugely successful London production of Fiddler on the Roof.
He thinks of Max as Tevye's "grandson", adding: "I love that I do sit very comfortably with playing Jewish characters [...] I love honouring those roles."
being able to watch the rehearsals and notice this type of changes happening is so cool
TIL there are two views of this performance
This paper is shit
josh gad watched the producers in the west end a few days ago!!
CR Is it fair to say that the first act belongs to you [Nathan] and the second act is more him [Matthew]?
MB No…
NL I feel so much that we do this together, I mean my whole show revolves around him and bringing him into my world, it's a father and son story, really. Ann [Bancroft] said to me: You know Mel's father passed away when he was about 2 years old, and she said very often: the things he writes are about fathers and sons, and this is certainly that.
In terms of the storytelling, I think it's better than the movie, he just made some great changes, and the fact that he [Leo] does betray him [Max] and he runs off with Ulla and the money, he sort of learn too well from Max, but he comes back in the end.
