✯ what do their texts look like? do they use emojis often? what kind?

benedict is chronic over texter - mostly due to his accidentally clicking enter before he's finished a message. he's also prone to lengthy paragraphs. he uses emojis, often incorrectly.

♈ a description of their home - apartment building or detached house? how many rooms are there? colours of their walls? any decorations?

benedict currently resides in the renovated apartment above flourish and blotts - he's taken great care to turn it into a cozy space. he's got comfortable furniture, plenty of bookshelves, plants, etc. it's a large space - three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and living room.

🌻 what do their bedsheets look like? colour? patterns?

benedict likes to change his sheets out for each season - just a way of switching things up. he usually opts for a solid color, but he's been known to purchase sheets with floral patterns.

“ obviously. ” say something stupid, then make them feel stupid : it’s an easy game. almost fun. tempest runs their fingers over the spine of the nearest book, picking it up and weighing it in their palms. they did, after all, come into flourish and blotts just to be irritating. “ are you a bookstore or a dumping ground for unloved books? ”

tempest’s response only managed to further benedict’s confusion - which was probably the point. a point that he managed to miss, of course. “a bookstore,” he was quick to answer, “that offers a chance for unloved books to find a new home.”

“i- junk?” benedict was completely bewildered by tempest’s statement. “they’re books,” he responded, rather bluntly, clearly caught off guard by the comment. “maybe some of the used ones are a little worn out but i’d hardly call it junk.”

"what a hard question to answer! i've read so many good books in my life. if i have to give an answer i'll go with a tale of two cities. but ask me again tomorrow, my answer could change!"

𝙻𝙾𝙲𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽 : the hog’s head, hogsmeade !

in response to the question of whether the chair beside her is free, luca gives only a quiet mhm. for a moment, that’s all that’s needed : the hustle & bustle of the hog’s head on a night of memorial weekend drowns the sound, but actions speak volumes more and her foot goes automatically to the bottom rung of the stool to nudge it a couple inches out from the bar. she continues to nurse her pint of muggle cider between both hands and stares into the bottom of the glass while they settle in, giving the final dregs of it a gentle swirl. she was meant to have cut herself off a few hours ago, lest the hangover make the rest of the weekend even more unbearable than usual. she was meant to have headed back to the school before the sun went down, so she could be there for her siblings. she was meant to do a lot of things but for once, she didn’t have the strength of will to do them - and lucky for her neighbour, she was charitable in her sullen insobriety. “you want a drink?” this time she tries to speak above the noise, voice a little raspy from a day of disuse, “’it’s on me. i could do with the good karma.”

“thanks!” benedict's voice crackled as he had to shout in order to be heard over the noise of the bar. clearly, he wasn’t used to speaking loudly. or maybe he just wasn’t used to such a large crowd. while he’d always made a point of attending the memorial - he tended to shy away from any of the larger gatherings, in fact, this was the first time he’d actually ventured out to one of the bars. “that’d be great,” he smiled, “just a fire whiskey,” he added, once again raising his voice to make sure he was heard. “it’s quite loud, isn’t it?” he laughed.

＂ Only to those with a trained eye. I worked in many stores during my early twenties. I remember the feeling well. ＂ From stacking shelves to Ministry worker, Arthur Weasley has always been a grafter, willing to do whatever it takes or in some cases, whatever was available. Each role he holds in high regard, thankful for the experience & using it to shape him as a person. ＂ Indeed. Especially when you have to deal with troublesome customers who are never satisfied. ＂ Tone lowers to a whisper for that last sentence, leaning forward just slight to keep conversation between them, a playful smile tugging at lips. He promises not to be one of those customers today, Benedict. Posture straightens back up seconds later and hand signals towards a nearby stool, a silent invitation that’s soon followed up verbally. ＂ Please, I don’t mind. I’m on a long lunch and I’m sure I can find what I’m looking for. Take the break. I won’t tell anyone if you don’t. ＂

benedict laughed at arthur’s response, “it’s probably best that the customers can’t tell.” no one needed to see that he was on the brink of exhaustion, or know that he couldn’t remember the last time he’d sat down. “fortunately, i don’t have that problem often,” he spoke with a sigh of relief. though, it did happen more than he’d like - benedict chose not to dwell on that aspect of the business. “thank you,” he laughed, “whatever you pick, it’s on me.”

"is it obvious?” benedict managed to muster up a laugh and the faintest trace of a smile to go with it as he turned towards arthur. while the older male’s question had clearly caught him off-guard, it was definitely appreciated. he wasn’t used to people inquiring about his well-being, especially not customers who usually tended to be in a hurry. “no one seems to realize just how demanding this job can be,” he laughed.

ft. damien

Damien laughs but there’s no humor in it. He drops his pen down in a frustrated huff. “That’s not an option, really. Going for a walk will make it worse, it’s either I finish now or I won’t at all.” He’ll probably throw and break something, he’s always been quite good at property damage.

“in that case, i can suggest a cup of tea?” he offered along with a shrug. it was about all he could come up with - though it didn’t feel particularly useful. perhaps he aught to quit before he made a nuisance of himself.

“This sounds like bullshit.” He huffs out, to nobody in particular but he doesn’t really care who responds at all - if anyone. He has a laptop in front of him and papers spread out in a horrid state. At least the coffee and tea cups are arranged neatly, them and the books he had brought with him. “This doesn’t even make any fucking sense, it’s such fucking bullshit.”

benedict wasn’t necessarily sure how to approach damien - let alone, if he should approach damien. but he recognized the struggle and thought he should offer up some sort of help. “usually when i get a little frustrated, i get up and walk away for a few minutes,” he smiled.

📸🔪⚾

📸 CAMERA - do they enjoy having their picture taken? what’s their go-to pose? do they like taking photos? what do they take photos of? i wouldn’t go as far as saying benedict hates having his picture taken but he would much rather be the one taking the picture ! i wouldn’t say he has a go to pose - but he does lean towards goofy. his absolute favorite subject would be his girls (isadora and agnes). he is absolutely that dad who takes pictures of everything.

🔪 KNIFE - how do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame? i do believe benedict panics at the sight of blood but he’ll quickly try to shake it off. while i think there’s a strong chance he would blame himself, he’d definitely blame himself more if he didn’t do anything !

⚾ BASEBALL - can they play sports? what is their best position if they play a team sport? what’s their strong suit (speed, power etc.)? upon the realization that benedict was a squib - his parents made the executive decision to enroll him in a multitude of activities - including several muggle sports. unfortunately for him - he was not athletically gifted. he is quite skilled at riding a bicycle, if that counts.

“i’m really glad you convinced me to come,” benedict smiled as he held out a champagne flute for andie. had she not found the invitation that’d be sent to the store and subsequently pestered him to bring her as a plus one, he wouldn’t have come. hell, he probably would’ve forgotten about the ball entirely. but he was truly glad she’d found the invitation - he was enjoying himself.

do you ever feel inadequate, as a squib?

"it definitely wasn’t easy growing up a squib in wixen society - but my parents were tremendous at helping me realize my self worth. so to answer your question, no i’ve never felt inadequate as a squib. though i’ve certainly felt inadequate in other situations.”

𝙻𝙾𝙲𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽 : fortescue’s ice cream parlour, diagon alley !

“i hate to say it-” he gives the impression of really meaning it, too - eyes wide and earnest, lips curved into a sympathetic frown, he gestures helplessly towards where he just came from the back of the ice cream parlour, “but we’re all out of that flavor. sorry for getting your hopes up, but seems somebody cleared us out before you got here.” truth be told, a lot of people were clearing a lot of unused flavors, and henry couldn’t actually find it within himself to be mad about it. fortescue’s did good business during the summer, but the colder months were difficult. gimmick or not, midnight on diagon alley was likely going to tide them over through the holiday season - which was probably why he felt compelled to offer, “freckle & hyde’s just as good. d’you want a sample scoop?”

“well shoot,” benedict responded with a small frown - though it disappeared within seconds of appearing. it was just ice cream - nothing to get worked up over. even if he’d been waiting all year for two scoops of cookies & scream. there were plenty of other flavors to try. though he’d been so preoccupied with the one specific flavor, he hadn’t thought to take a look at what else fortescues had to offer. “could you tell me what’s in it?” he responded to henry with a smile, “i’d hate to be wasteful.”

"i do hope she’ll forgive me for my answer - but her baking. it’s definitely not the only thing i like about her, nor is it the thing i like about her the most. but i’m sure you don’t want to hear me go on about how amazing she is. so i’ll just highlight one of her many skills. if you’ve never had one of her cupcakes you’re missing out ! it’s impossible to just eat one - they’re so soft and the flavor combinations she comes up with are out of this world. i seriously don’t know how she does it. i mean she did try to teach me once, but let’s just say - it’s definitely her area of expertise. you should definitely visit syrupy sweet when you get the chance ! you won’t regret it.” @honeyswcct
