This hike has the same elevation gain of that between Saskatoon and Calgary, a distance of 600 km. But this hike does it in 7 km. You'll be sore for days.

So Canadian
To all those moments when you can't believe you're here, doing what you're doing. Happy adventuring this weekend, my friends.
Throwing it back to churning butter.
Lungs process air and are the only internal organs that are constantly exposed to the external environment. They breathe in between 8,000 and 9,000 liters of air each day—the amount needed to oxygenate the 9,000 liters of blood that is pumped through the heart daily. Give it up for your lungs!
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
Happy BC Day long weekend my fellow BC adventurers! I love this province through and through. I'm proud to say I was born and raised here and continue to cherish it's curves. I love the unlimited natural beauty of this province and how it challenges me physically to see it up close and personal, it's a perfect life balance.
Seeing as we're having the hottest days of the year right now, I want to throw it back to our coldest days. This was Jan 2nd. Living in a place where my summer activities change very little to what I do in the winter is what keeps me sane and happy. All of BC's major cities are the only places in Canada where average January temperatures are above zero. Of course it becomes colder but your outdoor recreation pursuits barely change, in fact, they often get better if you hike up into to the powdery snow because BC's mountains receive the most snow in Canada during the winter months. Snow isn't for driveways, it's for mountains.
An uninhabited island off the coast of BC, an hour away from the nearest town, a coastal seaside village, and a hike up to the lake, you can bet this lake isn't visited too often. I got up close and personal to it. (at Roscoe Bay)
I never met a mountain I didn't like. (at Mount Brunswick)
Had a snowball fight in July up at 1778 meters asl. (at Mount Brunswick)
The elevation gain from Saskatoon to Calgary is around 1600 meters in about 690 km. (at Mount Brunswick)
Today marks one month until I'm married to my fellow hugging champion, my fiancé, @jo_telfer. Today also marks 3 weeks until me and my bachelor party mates trek to the backside of that mountain in the distance. The biggest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, Mt Robson. Both events, I'm extremely excited for. YOLO. (at Mt Robson Provincial Park Campgrounds)
I spent the weekend on Jedidiah Island. This little northern gulf island used to be inhabited by a family up until the 1970s but in 1994 it was turned into a marine provincial park. The family's old house still remains as does their orchard, eucalyptus tree, tractor, sheep, and goats. The southern Mediterranean climate makes you feel like your in Greece. It's a beautiful location only accessible by personal boat. I spent my morning coffee observing a sea otter collect oysters.
The coastal islands of southwestern British Columbia are a special corner of Canada. So much to explore up and down that rugged coast. (at Sandpiper Beach, Hornby Island)
Less than 1km from the ocean, this mountain rises to 1.7km above sea level. It's incredible what a bit of relief does for the human mind, body, and spirit. Doctors can wait, mountains are my health plan.
