Not sure that it is exactly apples to apples but this is comparison of 1 minute Zone 4 interval runs with 2 minute rest periods that I ran at Buffalo park two weeks apart. My heart is getting less erratic and I’m getting faster (a summing that the x axis is the same). Nice! Hard work is paying off perhaps.
Went to a Bernie Sanders rally at the Twin Arrows Casino after cleaning myself up. Bernie is also showing amazing improvements in his endurance gleaned from the primary election that he is fighting fiercely to win. He has polished his stump speech which rolls off his tongue at a comfortable tempo pace while occasionally throwing in a passionate rant at lactate threshold velocity. This evening, he mixed in messages about the Native Americans and immigration reform tailoring the speech to the Arizonan crowd.

I decided to cram in a few more runs this week since a medical issue prevented me from running last week. I still haven’t fully recovered but I’m on the mend.

Comparison of external heart rate monitor to watch sensor heart rate monitor
The top one represents the almost identical long run that I did last sunday using the strapless heart rate monitor contained within my TOMTOM Spark and the bottom one represents today’s run using my newly acquired chest strap heart rate monitor. My average heart rate decreased this week. Is this because I am more in shape or do to improved accuracy. I think that the chest strap seems to jive more with what I am feeling and with my effort than the uber convenient/comfortable but less accurate chest sensor.
As you can see I have to run really slow to keep my heart rate in the zone one and two ranges. I now realize that zone 3 is where I previously attempted to be. I would I always try to push myself slightly beyond my conversation pace which I now know is entering the lactate threshold territory. This may explain why I would feel like I was getting overtraining syndrome when I only ran once to twice a week.
