THE LOONEY TUNES MAGIC LAKE SHOW (1978-1983 VERSION)
The character screens from 1978-1979. As to speed up the process, the 1977 barges were reused and given animation.
In time for the 1978 season, the Looney Tunes Magic Lake Show was massively revamped. This version of the show is better known as the “Marriott Era”.
The 1980-1983 character screens.
In 1980, the characters received a cosmetic update. This remained through out the Marriott version. Noticeable changes were towards the faces of the characters. The Pepé Le Pew barge was resized.
From 1978 until 1982, the barges originally had the Big W Warner Bros. logo. It would disappear on a music cue, as to switch to a Looney Tunes character. In 1979, the show began using its trademark “swirling whoosh” cue sound.
Around 1983, the Big W on the barges was changed to the more iconic Warner Bros. shield. This remained throughout the Magic Lake Show’s run, until its final performance in 1998.
(The Patriotic Stars finale)
This version gave the show a proper finale. The first part was patriotic finale with stars.
(That’s All Folks finale)
The show ends with a Moog version of the “That’s All Folks!” melody, with the barge lights spelling out the words.
The design sheet for the ‘78 Magic Lake Show designed by artist Bob Trevors. According to Trevors, it took him just one day draft the designs.
The 1978-1983 show had no dedicated soundtrack, aside from the Looney Tunes melodies. The soundtrack consisted of library music from Jean-Jacques Perrey and a few other artists. The Patriotic Stars proportion used an electronic version of the “Star Bangled Banner” that was used on TV stations at the time.
