Guys, when I watch the les miz arena tour I will become THE most insufferable person. This is a PSA to all my friends.
Watched Les Mis live for the first time yesterday, on Valentine's Day, and I'm happy to report that Valjean and Javert could not keep their hands off each other during bows
Some more notes:
- enjolras died alone
- grantaire (connor jones), enjolras (james d gish) and their son (gavroche (dexter pulling?)) stood side by side in the afterlife
- that new version of Drink With Me.... yeah. Yeah. During "could it be your death means nothing at all?" Enjolras stood right behind Grantaire, looking like he was about to cry, and Grantaire refused to look at him. Only after he finished the "is your life just one more lie" he finally looked at Enjolras and it was followed by a really long silence and intense eye contact. Enjolras hesitantly reached out a hand to Grantaire's shoulder, but before he could touch him, Grantaire jerked back and walked away
- valjean (milan van waardenburg) and javert (bradley jaden) hugged several times during bows and kept their arms around the other when they werent hugging
- this performance of "Stars"??? Incredible. The Javert was INCREDIBLE. Bradley Jaden ily
- "who is this man, what sort of devil is he?" but YELLED in DESPAIR
- "Bring Him Home" but it's the best version i've ever heard because valjean had an incredibly tender voice
- valjean was ughhhh /pos
- they kept calling him valjohn
- i thought fantine (katie hall) was among the women cleaning up after the barricade. It turned out later she wasn't (the woman i thought was her and fantine were on stage at the same time... oops) but i still like the thought
- thenardier (matt lucas) was amazing. Fan favourite. Also queer? "There goes a prince, there comes a jew... that one's a queer, and i tried it too" "what" "well-"
- marius' (jac yarrow) outfit was pale blue, pink and white. Yay trans colours! But more importantly, a pale french flag. Which is a really cool design choice. Cool stuff

- after eponine's (aviva tulley) death, les amis had a short song where they devoted the barricade to her
- i need javert's entire wardrobe. Right. Now.
Thinking about how weird newsies fans must sound to everyone else. You ask someone about their favorite character and they reply “oh yeah it’s gotta be doorknob” and you’re just standing there like “who tf is doorknob” and they go “you remember doorknob, he was partially visible in one song” and you look it up later and he has a whole backstory, a subreddit dedicated to him and 5,0000 fics on ao3 most of which are shipping him with someone named tomato
i saw cabaret on the west end last week and man. i have never seen people leave the theatre so distraught. everyone was just shuffling out quietly, personally i was just staring into the void for a bit before i could even leave my seat. this musical is amazing but has the most harrowing use of dramatic irony in the world.
