I’m wolf and this blog is about my (unpublished! 😖) story I’ve called Birdwatcher. It is a postmodern furry scifi drama taking place within my paracosm, Harlow, a world building project I’ve been developing since early childhood. I’ll be posting a lot of art from/for these projects, as well as snippets of writing, though probably more narrative and prose stuff as I want to keep publicly sharing world building to a minimum for now.

Disclaimer: as none of this is published, things are subject to change. none of this is intended as a final version of a story (and I tend to contradict myself a lot 😭). Please be kind and patient and don’t take anything too seriously. My work also contains a lot of dark themes, fair warning.

More bitter raven info and ramblings:

He was born in Alaska sometime in the 1950s to a white father and an indigenous mother (athabascan). He grew up there and studied to be a pharmacist.

In 1984, something made him leave home one day and he chose to put his skills to use providing humanitarian aid in Angola. He ends up getting kidnapped and tortured by a hostile group, and since he had nothing of use to his kidnappers and they didn’t know who to contact for ransom money, they abandoned him and left him for dead.

he eventually got picked up by some Diamond Dogs who happened to be patrolling the area. They discovered him after noticing ravens circling overhead, which is how Raven got his code name. The “bitter” part is related to his job as pharmacist (like bitter medicine) but it definitely does have something to do with his rather bitter attitude too.

Speaking of attitude, bitter raven is very withdrawn and reclusive, preferring to do his work alone. He hates having his tasks interrupted, and becomes very irritable if you keep him too long. He’s always eager to get back to work. He’s also very paranoid, anxious, and a little jumpy, not working well with others due in part to the trauma he faced while kidnapped.

He’s not suited for combat whatsoever, but he was trained in cqc for self defense and can use a gun if he has to.

A core fundamental aspect of Raven is his philosophical/spiritual nature. He believes in fate, that time moves in a pre-destined path through history.

He leaves (escapes) the diamond dogs eventually, moving to Montana and setting up shop there, working as a pharmacist in a small rural ranch town. Locals give him the nickname “Old Dog,” a name he decides to keep.

Rambling:

This is ooc for both of them and this would never happen I just imagined 💭 bitter raven just rarely interacts with v snake in general I think. He interacts most with revolver ocelot, assisting the wildcat in various special tasks, ranging from uninteresting (usually just compounding whatever bullshit ocelot wants personally), to top secret (brainwashing drug cocktails, among other things).

Bitter raven is fucking terrified of ocelot, even more so after figuring out the truth behind the diamond dogs and v snake, but their working relationship resulted in ocelot and raven becoming decently familiar with one another?? Of course ocelot is ever unknowable and elusive, no one can ever fully know him, but bitter raven knows a lot more about ocelot than average.
