Playing to thrill and hoping to take back the trophy from last years winners Wiltshire Roller Derby you can catch these crazy Diamonds in action on Sunday 13th September at Wycombe Sports Centre.

On Saturday 11th April 2015 Big Bucks High Rollers made the long trip down to Cornwall for some good Cornish Ice Cream, Pasties and a tasty game of roller derby against British Championships hosts Cornwall Roller Derby. From the start Big Bucks came out strong and ready for a tough game. The opening few jams saw BBHR gain a slight edge until a power jam opened up the game. Great pack work and very few visits to the penalty box saw Big Bucks take a 38 point lead going into half time.
A focused and driven Cornwall team came out strong to start the second half and found success from a couple of jam line star passes but Big Bucks had found another gear and stepped it up a notch. Through great team work, solid walls and amazing jamming from all, BBHR extended the lead and came away with the win. Final score BBHR 223 – CRD 126. Massive thanks to CRD for hosting a fantastic day of British Champs roller derby!
Next up for Big Bucks are last year’s Heartland Series runners up Plymouth City Roller Girls . With BBHR finishing third last year this promises to be one of the games to watch in the Regional South Tier of the British Championships. The game will take place on Saturday 4th July at Wycombe Sports Centre - keep your eyes peeled for tickets!!!

Big Bucks High Rollers can finally let the cat out of the bag...... We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we will be competing in the Heartlands Series 2014!!!!!! We will be skating in the South East League and our first opponents will be the awesome HellsBelles RollerGirls - Hertfordshire Roller Derby - check out the link below for full details of all the UK teams taking part next year!!

Tough Rookie Tales 9...
Violentino Rossi #46 – Skating since April 2013 One of our toughest rookies, Violentino Rossi’s sheer tenacity is to be admired. Suffering with a long term injury (after surgery) she turns up at training and skates u...ntil it hurts, she then watches and to make sure she still learns, but always comes back week after week and keeps trying and trying to perfect the skills. She will never give up and its wonderful to see. In her own words “The thought of skating in the rookie bout gave me a mixed feeling of terror and childish excitement. The whole week leading up to it I was so nervous and worried that I'd do something completely wrong and I was convinced I wasn't anywhere near ready to skate in a bout. However.....IT WAS AWESOME! Once my first jam was over and I went on track for the second time I was trying to focus on what I needed to try and do, and trying to remember all the drills we'd done in training so all the negative feelings were forgotten. I had so much fun! Big thanks to all the BBHR players for all your encouragement and making the rookie bout possible! Can we do it again?!x”

Tough Rookie Tales 8…
"Jet Scream" #208 – Skating since September 2013 Fear is not a word in Jet Screams vocabulary. She was given 4 days notice that she was drafted into playing in rookie bout and had only been skating for 4 weeks prior toplaying. She quite literally throws herself into everything she does and in those 4 weeks had come further than most of us could have done in 8 weeks. In time she will be the next Agent Sparling. In her own words "The best part about playing in the Rookie bout, apart from being able to use the techniques and team skills that we had been developing, was the amazing support and encouragement from the whole of BBHR. Having had my confidence knocked at the start of the bout, "Tough rookies" really helped me get back up and carry on! Couldn't have asked for a better Derby team to join!"
We had a really great trip up to Leicester on November 3rd to take on the Dolly Rockit Rollers. It was a hard fought bout and the Dolly's got the win, but we had so much fun!! Until next time DRR! Final Score DRR 263 - 71 BBHR

"Rockabilly Ray" #405 – Skating since January 2013 It was only fitting that Rockabilly Ray would one day find Roller Derby, I mean come on … she designs awesome skates for Rio Rollers. She was awarded Best Jammer and rightly so, always willing to get on track with or without the jammer panty and put 100% into each jam. She had a reserved and shy start with us but since the rookie bout has really come out of her shell, it has been great to see this girls confidence grow and with it her abilities on track. We can’t wait to watch her progress into a wonderful teammate and formidable opponent. In her own words. “In the lead up to the Rookie bout, I was so nervous. People were telling me not to be silly, but my fear of missing my number being called off or even letting anyone down was so intense. During my first Jam I got lead jammer and my awesome team held the other jammer back so well, which gave me my chance to shine. I skated till I couldn't skate anymore. Although worn out, I was absolutely buzzing! The rookie bout was amazing and a valuable experience. I have already achieved my main goal of being awarded with best jammer, so now I have to raise the stakes! I love BBHR to bits. They have welcomed me with open arms and been respectful of my social shyness! The only way is up!”

"Pretty Skate Machine" # 51N – Skating since April 2013 Firecracker, the only word I can think of to describe this wonderful person, getting stuck in both on track and off offering to volunteer for any roles she can get and we are so grateful. Pretty Skate Machine has only been with us for a few months but has fit in perfectly to our little family. She had a nervous and shaky start to training preferring to watch and learn, but recently she has really started to train hard and pairing up with big hitters is helping her strength. She thrives when she is pushed to her limit and will definitely make a name for herself in the derby world. In her own words "When I was first told that we were doing our first rookie bout if was safe to say I was sooo nervous "Was I ready? Did I know enough of the rules? Was I strong Enough to take hits from the other girls?" being 5ft2 this was a big concern for me... so many questions that the only way to get the answers from them was to take part. I was bricking it all morning and right up until the first Jam, Everyone was so nervous that they didn't want to be the Jammer for the first time, so shakily I said "sod it, give me the star lets get this sh*t started" and on I went.. OK i got swarmed on the first jam but it was done... now to crack on with the rest. It was very close scores for the the whole bout, there was no clear winner. I had a power jam and scored 25 points for my team (so proud of that)! Before I knew it the final whistle had gone and I felt amazing, I was so proud of how everyone had played and really proud of myself for getting out there and doing it. Roller Derby is stuck with me now because I'm here to stay!”

"Lloyd Spank" #05 - Skating since May 2013 WINNER !
Since the rookie bout Lloyd Spank has passed minimum skills and played in her first open door co-ed bout. She has tore up the track since she stepped foot on it in May and we at BBHR could not be more proud of her. She improves week by week and absorbs all the knowledge from advanced skaters and coaches. She was one of the toughest rookies BBHR has had. Opponents beware. Blockers, she will break you and Jammers, she will stop you.
In her own words…
“Leading up to the day of the bout, waves of nausea and excitement hit me like I'd had a run in with Lolly Chunders. When I finally sat down and put on my two pairs of socks for my slightly too big skates, I knew it was time to hit a green. So after a extra loud warm up taken by our Bench Manager, Gemmaroids, and a calming word in our earholes from our LUM, El e Copped er, I watched my brave teammates make their way to the first jam. Third jam in, I'm on the line too, lifting my foot to push off, only to realise it was shaking like a leaf. A stern word from Gill T Pleasure, and a cheeky hand on my bum from A Cute Injury, I knew it was going to be good. I jammed, I blocked, I got penalties, and took a few hits that knocked me off my feet, but what I cant understand is...why isnt Roller Derby mandatory?”
