I'M BACK ON TUMBLR TO CELEBRATE THE SENATORS ACQUIRING BURAKOVSKY
.....and ridding ourselves of our CAPITANO
Been a while dear, but in case you’ve missed it: Derick’s unretired and playing in Switzerland for the Geneve Servette HC, their little guy is a mini me of his, and they’re having another little boy this summer 🫶✨
YES and i'm so so happy that all of this is happening. and and and his family is so beautiful! miss ya! xoxox
As much as we want Brassy to get back in the hockey world in scouting or front office like he always wanted, doesn’t it feel refreshing that it was indeed his choice to focus on family first and is really embracing parenting duties? Would love to hear from you 🩷 Again no need to rush on his part IMO and it’s a smart move :)
of couse, i would ultimately love to see him in the hockey world doing something, because i know that's what he'd love to do. i think he would thrive and be so so happy doing something like that, scouting, coaching..... however he seems totally at peace just being a dad right now and being around for his kids' milestones. he's been working so hard at his sport since he was a kid, and i want him to enjoy retirement for a few years and be a family man until he's itching to get back. :)
back to back!
Hey I love the dad/stepdad Brass era so much and it makes my heart warm that he did not rush back into working in his post playing career so he could be around his cute little family more 🥹🫶🩷
it's everything 🥰
"Kreids – I’m incredibly lucky to have had the pleasure of playing with you for almost 10 years, but that’s nothing compared to the pleasure of getting to know you and becoming best friends. You took me in from DAY 1. You’ve taught me everything in what it means to be a Ranger. You’ve always had my back no matter what. From being kids to having kids of our own. It’s a journey that doesn’t end here. This is a friendship for a lifetime, teammates or not. Me and my family will always be grateful for you and your family. Lastly, I just wanna wish you all the best in Anaheim. They’re lucky to have such an amazing player, person and teammate. Alltid oavsett 💙" –Mika Zibanejad
Song: Big Time Rush - Windows Down
Pros:
Natural transition points
Celebratory woo hoos!
The Senators of right now have a youthful, optimistic energy about them that this song matches well.
Crowd can do the "woo hoo"s and the "yeah yeah"s
Not lame
Cons:
Perhaps a tough to beachy for Ottawa?
Windows Down samples Ottawa's current, long standing goal song (Song 2 by Blur). Switching the two feels like a small step towards actually having a good song (and team).
Senators Proposal 1/?
Uncle Matthew has a thing for recreating photos and had to include baby Ryder in this one.
Your 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
sorry to the new guys, i just don't care enough to add you in here yet
johnny is watching 🥺💙💙
I'm sobbing
The more you think about it, Brass was very lucky that he still got to end his career properly with his second Ottawa stint and got to 1000 games. It just didn’t felt that way at the time, but it sure does now considering how Hoffman and Bobby Ryan were released from their PTOs. Imagine telling me in 2019 that of those three guys from the 2017 Sens playoff run, Derick was the one who left the NHL at the perfect time and in his own terms.
it makes me so happy that he was able to end things at home, after the 1000 mark, on his own terms. 🩵 i'm sure he's quite grateful.

Had to take a day before I could even try to articulate any of this; I've never been this genuinely devastated by the loss of a public figure before. I can't express enough of my heartbreak and condolences for the entire Gaudreau family, I can't even imagine their loss and I won't insult their grief by trying. All I can do is thank them for letting us, the fans, get to know their amazing son, brother, husband, father for a while - it was truly a joy to watch and root for him.
And to everyone else - the other fans in mourning or shock or whatever indescribable emotion you're feeling right now - all I can do is remind you that time is precious. Hug your parents, call your siblings, tell your partner you love them. I've already gotten years more than Johnny and Matthew will ever have; I intend to try and make the rest of the ones I'm allowed to mean more then the ones before them. I think that's the only way any of us can really honor their lives. Stay safe. And take care of yourselves.
It took a lot of work at every level, but I think now people finally understand what I’ve always known. I’m not a grinder. I’m not a gimmick. And, in general, I’m just not a big guy. But I don’t need to be. I’m a hockey player.
