A young, maybe naïve character befriending an older, scary character. The young one helps the older one emotionally, perhaps being the only one who treats them kindly. And the older one helps the kid by protecting and guiding them
Particularly grumpy person working at an animal sanctuary, being the only person who is able to be/comfortable with being responsible for a particularly grumpy animal
Firefighters/spies/emergency rescue team using formal names/surnames/titles on the radio, but when they don't respond, break down and start shouting for them using their personal/first/nicknames instead
Awkward nerdy night school teacher, who happens to be a vampire
Maybe has a little briefcase and a packed lunch box (with their blood in of course)
Reformed character still regarded as the "bad guy" by the older/adult characters, but the younger ones/kids just see them as a cool uncle/aunt figure
