To read or not to read....

Actually, I can’t even finish that title because there’s no need to ask -to read it is! In the new year I stumbled upon a pledge site that dares readers (or newbs to the magical world of books) to read fifty books in one year. I was feeling adventurous and took the pledge. I’ve so far read nine books and I will, according to the pledge site, approximately read forty one books this year. 

For an avid reader is this genuinely a challenge? Probably not but due to my perfectionism, it is! If i go one day without reading I start to overthink. My thought process -> “Since I didn’t read today I’ll probably never finish my book therefore end up not reading fifty books this year so I should just quit.” Thankfully I’m a natural reader and prefer books over any other form of entertainment and never end up truly quitting. Once I take on a task if I can’t do it perfectly I tend to just quit. Which means I am my own worst enemy. For example I almost quit writing this post about seven times and I’m not even done yet all because I fear failure. Is it even possible to fail at a post...? Once again over thinking is something I need to stop drowning in. 

Regardless of tearing myself down I’m going to use this tumblr to inspire myself, to hold myself accountable to my pledge and to just “get out there” as everyone always suggests to me when it comes to my writing. So cheers to me, an introvert with endless layers (insert quote from shrek about the onion and it’s many layers) that I usually refuse to share with people that I am now going to try to start sharing.
