I don't play deadlock but Vyper's lines with Holiday always get me. "I don't want people to know I'm tight with a cop." "You're not." "Exaaaactly." Top tier Valve writing.
Vyper is such a fun case because her entire character was initially a placeholder that became too beloved to let go.
See, around July 2024, there was no Vyper anywhere in the files. There was instead another reptile hero named Kali, with a completely different set of skills and presumably a different character. However, Valve were bringing in extra help for Deadlock because people were demanding new heroes, and so they hired Hopoo of Risk of Rain fame to help design more characters, leading to Vyper in October 2024.
Hopoo would post on the Deadlock Discord that Vyper and Magician (now Sinclair) were two of his new prototypes inside the experimental "Hero Labs" mode, where you could play with heroes Valve were still thinking about making official but weren't decided on yet. Vyper took Kali's model and was recolored from orange to green, and Vyper had what was initially described in the patchnotes as a initial/placeholder voice (which is why her pick line is "Yeah, I'm a Work In Progress. Pick me!")

Now it just so happened that Vyper's initial voice lines were also really funny, slinging insults towards other characters ("Infernus used to be hard, but now he's a bitch serving drinks to other bitches ohgoddon'ttellhimIsaidthat"), self-deprecating humor ("You ever get the feeling something bad is about to happen? See, I don't, which is why I spend so much time in jail"), and generally sounding like someone who was saying whatever because she would get real lines later.
This did not happen. She was so funny and so awful that when they began recording new lines for all the characters to really flesh out Deadlock, Vyper kept her character entirely intact. She offers to run drugs for Bebop's mom. She's a creepy fangirl that would write Lash fan letters from jail that scared him. She mistakes Paige for a stripper she spent a wild night with. She spills everybody's secrets to everyone else. Everyone in the entire cast hates Billy the Punkgoat, but Vyper's immediate reaction to him is offering to fuck him in an alley. Doorman literally can't be bothered to torment her when he traps her in a hell dimension, saying "Oh what's the point you're going to die of liver failure anyway".
Parts of her remain a WIP (Kali's recolored model will eventually be replaced so she's an actual snake instead of a lizard with legs that she flattens against her body to form a goofy snake tail), but it's safe to say by now that her unique voice and terrible personality is going to stay.
Horrible woman. Deadlock's best character. Did you know she puts poison on her bullets? It's not enough that she's shooting you with a gun, no. Things go wrong so often for her that she also coats her bullets with her venom so you get poisoned while getting shot, just. In. Case.
