Inspired by the Green Knight of Arthurian legends, this character is not easily defeated. With each hit, its members fall to the ground, but as long as the head does not take the final HIT the character does not die.

The Crimsonmancer is actually a vampire who was plotting against the townsfolk under the kingdom. He can leech life from enemies but need to spend it to attack as well. It must be hard for a vampire to look for a balance.
He was intended to be a boss who would transform into a monstrous vampire during the fight and would turn the lights off.

The Black Knight is a name that causes FEAR in the hearts of many, this mysterious knight is shrouded in legends and mystery, his own story and why being interested in his majesty's reward make everyone uneasy.

Apart from these three main characters were the other characters who were thought of as the Green Knight (who could be hit several times but lose a body part until only his head is left), the Black Knight (a character who used bombs and was much tougher but cannot jump without using his attacks on his behalf and who has a secret story behind), Knight of Pain who would take damage from enemies in his favor, the Crimsonmancer who in addition to being a vampire-themed boss would use skills that spend life but can recover from monsters while playing.
Fora esses três principais os outros personagens que foram pensados como o Cavaleiro Verde (que poderia ser atingido diversas vezes, mas perde uma parte do corpo até sobrar só a sua cabeça), o Cavaleiro Negro (um personagem que usava bombas e era muito mais resistente, mas não pode pular sem usar seus ataques a seu favor e que tem uma historia secreta por trás), Cavaleiro da Dor que usaria tomar dano dos inimigos a seu favor, o Crimsonmancer que além de ser um chefão com tema de vampiro usaria habilidades que gastam vida, mas pode recuperar dos monstros enquanto joga.
A mysterious character who prefers not to waste time in battle but to seek the brilliance of the rich gold coins. Instead of attacking or defending the Wanderer is a fast character who with his dash ignores contact with enemies and facilitates exploration.

A stranger from a land far away, the Viking cares for loot and glory! He's not here for any King’s favor, he's here for the challenge!
The Viking is also looking for something quite precious he had lost when he entered the Palace ... he lost his long used helmet. And no Viking is a Viking without its helmet. Should you help him?
He's the only playable character who can attack.

Project 01 - The Unnamed Shield Wilding Knight Game
Before filtering the ideas to make the project viable, there were other characters, their stories, and mechanics. These mechanics would also be explored at the level design with areas that would only be accessible with the ability of another character, thus seeking to create repetition value.
Shield Mate - It is the initial character and with it, we can only protect ourselves using the shield (with a certain timing, reflect too). On the map we would have times when defending the character is "thrown/pushed" and this allows access to certain areas.
Viking - It would be the only character with a direct attack in the game. He can throw the straight ax that bounces at the enemy and comes back to him, so he is the character who can disrupt enemy attacks and cause them to attack or affect the scene without his intervention. On the other hand, he cannot defend, only dodge. * The ax can block some objects thrown by enemies in the air.
the Wanderer - This mysterious character cannot attack or defend himself but can glide in the air, and his ability is a dash that ignores contact with enemies and objects thrown at him.
BIBO - It would not be a playable character, in fact, it helps with the tutorial and is with you interact to buy items. He is a chubby squire who follows you around the checkpoint and comments on what is happening in the story, as well as tutorials and tips. There was the idea of doing secret missions with him where you discover that BIBO is actually a fairy and moves through the castle walls.
Antes de ir filtrando as ideias para viabilizar o projeto, haviam outros personagens, suas historias e mecânicas. Essas mecânicas seriam exploradas também no level design com áreas que só seriam acessíveis com a habilidade de outro personagem, procurando assim criar valor de repetição.
Shield Mate - É o personagem inicial e com ele só podemos nos proteger usando o escudo (com um timing certo, refletir também). No mapa teríamos momentos em que ao se defender o personagem é “jogado/empurrado” e isso permite acessar certas áreas.
Viking - Seria o único personagem com ataque direto no jogo. Ele pode lançar o machado em linha reta que quica no inimigo e volta para perto dele, com isso ele é o personagem que pode atrapalhar os ataques inimigos e fazer com que eles se ataquem ou afetem o cenário sem interversão dele. Em compensação ele não pode defender, só se esquivar. *o machado pode bloquear no ar alguns objetos jogados pelos inimigos.
the Wanderer - Esse personagem misterioso não pode atacar ou se defender, em compensação pode planar no ar e sua habilidade é um dash que ignora o contato com inimigos e objetos jogados na sua direção.
BIBO - Não seria um personagem jogável, na verdade ele ajuda com o tutorial e é com você interage para comprar itens. Ele é um escudeiro gordinho que te segue em todo checkpoint e solta comentários que contam o que está acontecendo na história, além de tutorias e dicas. Havia a ideia de fazer missões secretas com ele onde você descobre que BIBO é na verdade uma fada e se move pelas paredes do castelo.
The SHIELD MATE is the main character you play. He’s a young peasant who ends in the the King Palace looking for a way out while trying to accomplish the objectives in the way.
He seems a bit WILD because these were the first sketches I did. Latter I went with a more clumsy and afraid look since he’s not a warrior or a knight.
Project 01 - The Unnamed Shield Wilding Knight Game
In this story, you play as a young peasant who is obliged to participate in the castle's invasion for his king. Unfortunately at the very beginning you get lost from the battalion and end up losing your sword too. As a young man who knows nothing of the art of warfare, you should try to survive and honor the king only with your shield.
“In a distant kingdom, all was well until one night Her Majesty's castle had been sacked. From day to night all the riches in the kingdom were taken and all were driven from the castle that now belonged to the terrible and ambitious Goblins.
The King, desperate to reclaim his fortune, offers all the most famous and beautiful knights rewards and honors for those who are able to drive out the invaders and find the treasures scattered throughout the castle.
Unfortunately, you are no knight, you humbly entered the castle and when you got lost you were the only survivor. It's a shame you don't know how to use a sword, but at least you have your shield to protect yourself.
Good luck on your climb to the exit and don't forget to drive out the invaders and find all your majesty's gold. ”
Como um jovem camponês que é obrigado a participar da ivasão do castelo por seu rei. Infelizmente logo no começo você se perde do batalhão e acaba perdendo também sua espada. Como um jovem que não conhece nada da arte da guerra você deve tentar sobreviver e honrar o rei apenas com seu escudo.
“Em um distante reino, tudo andava bem até que uma noite o castelo de Sua Majestade fora saquiado. Do dia para a noite todas as riquesas do reino foram tomas e todos foram expulsos do castelo que agora pertencia aos terriveis e ambiciosos Goblins.

Project 01 - The Unnamed Shield Wilding Knight Game
Also known as “my main project”, this is the idea of a pixel art game where the character only uses a shield to defend himself. The challenge would be to make this passive mechanic dynamic and fun, as well as how to explore it creatively (or at least enough to entertain).
This little project has a big and smaller scope. Inspired by games like Nitrome and game jam projects, the smaller one would focus on validating the possible mechanics, rewards, and the interest that the game may have. In the bigger scope, the game would be more ambitious. Its own story, more characters (playable and NPCs), multiple endings and rewards, etc.
I’ll soon be talking about the story, the cast, the mechanics, the art style and references for the project.

Projeto 01 - O jogo sem nome do Cavaleiro que só usa escudo
Também conhecido como “meu projeto principal”, essa é a ideia de um jogo em pixel art onde o personagem só usa escudo e para se defender. O desafio estaria em transforma essa mecânica passiva em algo dinâmico e divertido, além de como explorar criativamente (ou pelo menos o suficiente para entreter).
Esse projetinho tem um escopo macro e micro, inspirado em jogos como a Nitrome e projetos de game jam. No micro, a ideia é focar em validar as possíveis mecânicas, recompensas e interesse que o jogo pode ter.
No macro o jogo tem um escopo mais ambicioso. Sua própria historia, mais personagens (jogáveis e npcs), finais (alternativos), etc.
