People often ask, “who is that?!” Or “why ‘Bigwig Donuts’? I’ll do my best to explain. This portrait was painted by Hyacinthe Rigaud during the late 1600’s in France. The man in the portrait is Philippe de Courcillon, Marquis de Dangeau. He was a French officer and author during the reign of King Louis the XIV. He’s not a very well known figure, but his portrait is quite ostentatious and his wig is inspiringly big. The word Bigwig came out of my search for a quirky business name that embodied the idea of this #glutenfreevegan donut being the best “biggest” donut hole in the world. A pretty ridiculous claim for a donut, yet, they’re straight-up good and you should know it. Philippe is a Bigwig, a man in charge, with a big wig to prove it.
