Thank you forever to all remembering Bill today and whenever.
For anyone not familiar, the 2010 documentary "American: The Bill Hicks Story" is available to stream free on Hoopla & Kanopy (if your library has either) and is on Prime Video (free w/ads or $ubscription). Four videos are also on Tubi. [NSFW]
"Bill wanted love, peace, food and clothing for all people – idealistic, but maybe one day the world will concentrate more on these ideals than on conflicts." –Mary Reese Hicks
Please share your memories/thoughts of Bill at billhicks.com/guestbook.html
"On December 16th, 1961, the world turned upside down and inside out, and I was born screaming in America. It was the tale end of the American Dream, just before we lost our innocence irrevocably, and the TV eye brought the horror of our lives into our homes for all to see. I was told when I grew up, I could be anything I wanted. A fireman, a policeman, a doctor. Even president, it seemed. And for the first time in the history of mankind, something new called an astronaut. But like many kids growing up on a steady diet of Westerns, I always wanted to be the cowboy hero. That lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it, and standing for freedom, truth and justice…in my never-ending ride into the setting sun." –Bill Hicks: Relentless

30 years ago today, Bill got one of his biggest print buildups for a 1993 two-night stand at Club Soda in Montreal.
This fan comment was published January 14, 1996. Is it just a coincidence that the fan shared a name with comedian Bill Hicks and his wish came true? The Cowboys did win the Super Bowl a couple weeks later, but this Bill's presumably favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, went the next two years plus 2011 (winning two championships). Dallas has not returned to the Super Bowl since the month this prophetic message was published.
