so funny watching everyone complain about tumblr updates bc i havent updated the app since like 2020 so i am just living in beautiful blissful ignorance

i have to believe the recent boom of “women are incompetent and need to be taken care of” but dressed up in quirky fun language is reactionary in that women are now more than ever independent and don’t put up with a lot of things our elders put up with out of necessity. which is why it seems there are so many demons popping up constantly trying to get the next generation of young girls caught up in bullshit. that they themself don’t actually subscribe to. (if you Really believed in all that depend on your husband completely and be a stay at home girlfriend shit why are you monetizing all your videos saying so?)

anyway maybe IM delusional but i have to think this. that these people are evil and don’t represent the vast majority of women in the real world bc otherwise. it’s so fucking over

but what’s really upsetting to think about is the young adult women today (like women currently in their 20s) grew up in the 2012 girl boss/buzzfeed feminism era which had MANY of its own problems don’t get me wrong but at least it encouraged women to be independent and have their own money. while currently the exact opposite is being heralded everywhere you look online. and even if i’m old enough to see through it, the people who are gonna internalize it the most are kids. and i feel like we’re not even gonna see the damage that is gonna have on women for like another 10 years

the “not liking pink is internalized misogyny” women who make posts about how ‘girls’ are meant to do nothing all day but look pretty r so annoying like why are you ruining feminism for every1

like the scary thing about acknowledging underprivileged groups of people is acknowledging that there are privileged groups of people who have to want to give up their privilege to level the playing field OR experience consequences so severe for not doing so . but the thing about misogyny is we are regressing so so so much and most people - even online super-left folks - refuse to acknowledge that misogyny even exists even as women r rapidly losing our rights and misogynists are just as quickly taking over the public sphere to where misogyny is normalized & experiences zero repercussions and that’s scarier

#not saying misogyny is worse than any other form of oppression but i am saying women r being successfully gaslighted into thinking it just #doesnt exiet #dnt rb btw

can i be real i think we need to take “men are affected by patriarchy too” and put it on a shelf high up until we can firmly establish that women are still very oppressed. because right now that talking point is being used strictly to silence and/or deflect discussion on misogyny and im so sick of hearing about it that it’s making me into an insane person
