A week or so ago we got the first ever fig from the tree a friend planted. I hadn’t known the trees don’t flower before fruiting (the flowers are in the fig). About 10 figs appeared but only this one managed to ripen- so far. We split it 4 ways.

This year’s fruit I didn’t know: mube. It has a similar sickly sweet taste to akebi, but the fruit is round instead of sausage shaped, doesn’t split open on the tree, and has bigger seeds. The vine's leaves are also bigger and glossier.
