Did one of those “random spin” art challenges and it said “galaxy mermaid” so here is the result….
People who think that the "no kill rule" is bad for superheroes, you really need to stop and think about the long term reprucessions killing can have. Superheroes are not soldiers and they are usually NOT hired hands. The one that are happen to be the exception and they are protected hence why they don't even need to hide their identities. In their case, killing is a last resort yet an accepted option.
However, in the case of vigilantes like Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and more, it's not just the ethics (which is valid within itself). It's the fact that they are literally not licensed to kill and when you don't have a license, killing makes you a murderer according to the law even if the victim was scum. And if you are now a murderer, the law hunts you down as a priority. Not to mention, they have a higher chance at finding you because a dead body tends to be a big breadcrumb to leave behind. And vigilantes are trying to protect their secret identity so the mercy tactic isn't just about preserving their humanity. It's about making sure the blood on their hands never gives them away. Think about it. In the AUs where these heroes kill, people find out who they are and they tend to get caught and/or lose everything.
So yes, in a sense, vigilante type supers are afraid of killing, but this fear is very much valid. They are at the end of the day "home bakers" not "pastry chefs". Technically, they are criminals from the moment they don masks and take the law into their own hands. It's a lifetime tightrope walk of breaking and bending the law while making sure you only break the ones that won't make people think you're one of the psychopaths. It's why Jim Gordon trusts Batman and why other heroes like Superman, the Flash, Spider-Man and more are beloved.
The Punisher is the exception not the example of what other vigilantes should be like. Moreover, even then, we need him to remind us what going down the dark path can do to us (not that I am counting what bad storytelling did to him, but that's another topic entirely).
The point is that the "no kill rule" isn't a stupid or counterproductive rule. It's common sense when you're not only on your own. The government is literally watching you and waiting for you to step out of line.
PS: In the case of supers like Optimus, do you have any idea what having blood on his hands would do to his image as the Prime? Look at how hated Elita Prime is because she is violent. And for the record, Optimus Prime is a hundred times more powerful than Elita Prime. If he ceased holding back, that would be disastrous.
And another thing to bring up instead of “why doesn’t this unlicensed man in a cape kill Joker?” Ask “why doesn’t the Justice system execute him?” That IS there job, it’s not Batman’s job to be judge, jury and executioner
It’s the job of the actual judges, juries and executioners
Why don’t these civilians who want Superman and Batman to kill bad guys do the job themselves if it’s so simple? Self defense laws exist, if the joker is coming at you, if you have a firearm use it, if you have pepper spray, use it, if you have a pocket knife, a bat or other sport equipment, or if your in your car, run the asshole over.
But no, most people in these just stand there and scream or run, I keep pepper spray, two knives, a crowbar and other nastiness in my bag (most of my co-workers have knives actually )that I carry into my job because I never know what is going to happen every day, customers can get nasty and if I need to defend my co-workers or myself, I’m going to do it, heck I even have an exacto knife in my apron for boxes and such at all times when I’m working!
Yet the people of Gotham never seem to have so much as pepper spray on them? You know a bunch of psychopaths invade the streets on a regular basis, why don’t YOU do something? You can kill in self defense or in defense of others, that’s Biblical! Law since the start of time, so yeah.
But yeah, it’s annoying both in universe and out of it when people ask “why doesn’t Superman/Batman kill?” And never seem to ask why the Justice system doesn’t do its job or why the civilians don’t arm themselves or force the courts hand.
A few thoughts on @mk-wizard new page (yes I know I just reviewed the previous one, but there is a lot of emotions going on in the last two pages)
And I am sorry that I can’t write more, but I promise that I am almost done with getting things in order to get my new laptop, then I plan on writing a more in-depth review of Psychoborg, I can only type so much on my phone 😅
SPOILERS for Psychoborg chapter 11 page 11
Some people might be mad at Astra for not wanting to believe that Oya slept with Ira, but denial is a real thing, she’s been through a lot and realized that so much that she thought she knew was a lie, her mother has not been there for her for how long now? And that the king that she’d have gone to the death for is a rapist A-hole, and now this mess, so her brain must be going a mile a minute.
And I do imagine that the empress, Rebecca didn’t mind at all that he had side pieces…any night he didn’t spend in her bed was no doubt a blessing.
And Tomara proves herself once again to be an idiot, she does all this stuff to her body and in the end she’s ok with not being the only woman in Iras life, happily bringing up how Oya also tapped boots with him, just so long as she gets the status of being the wife.
And it grinds my gears that she’s calling Astra privileged, when she’s the one who tries to use others privileges to exalt herself, Astra had to work hard to get her position, and yet, despite her power, still chose to be friends with a nerdy girl with powers over PAPER.
And here I was hoping that Oya would turn out to be this fun Luisa type character who was a “chicks before dicks” girl, but, maybe because she has not shown up yet, she might still prove herself, Tomara could be lying about the lie just to dig the knife deeper…
But yeah, I think Ira is going to have ALL his teeth knocked out by the end of this comic…
I cannot reveal what will happen next, but I can definitely clear the air on things about Tomara.
Jealousy has a way of making even the smartest person in the room dumb and petty as well as ruin things for themselves. Tomara is also living proof that being the quiet nerd doesn't make you innocent. Astra genuinely liked Tomara and never put her down for being a paper wizard. She always tried to lift her up for what she could do, but like I said, Tomara was always jealous and considering she's a user herself (she said it herself that she only became Astra's friend for status), she honestly has no problem with Ira using other which extends to having mistresses. In her mind, this is just how you stay on top.
As for Astra, she is a victim of indoctrination, gaslighting and being lied to about everything her whole life. To her, Ira loving her was the last thing she was holding onto that not everything was a lie. That at least those closest to her were good people. No one should shame or be annoyed with Astra because victims like her exist everywhere.
Unfortunately that doesn’t stop people from blaming the victim and refusing to see the other side of things, nor having the desire to reflect on how they might react to similar situations

Wow both Ira and Tomara are morons
1# they both come out as cheaters in front of not only Astra, but several other kingdoms
2# getting gold teeth is a really bad idea
3# getting…enhancements like that mean back problems later, and just make for an easy to grab part of yourself
And they show that Ira only cares about her BODY, and she never seems to have heard the phrase “if they cheated WITH you, they will cheat ON you”
Perhaps that’s where Oya is right now, she’s either getting ready to Hulk out on these pieces of scum, or she’s getting a big reveal as the new mistress.
And Ira is a huge dumbass(granted cheaters are) Tomara is a PAPER WIZARD, well Astra is their champion, she has neither the looks nor pedigree that Astra does, he’s essentially trading in a Toyota Camry for a lemon
And it seems he is banking on the current peace agreement from preventing violence against himself, but it’s just one day, and I’m sure any agreements would be null if someone else starts it, and again, Astra is a powerful wizard, who is now friends with the Ominous kingdom, there is no version of this where either cheater/false friend wins.
