I've been re-watching HTTYD I've watched HTTYD 1 and RTTD. And I've read sone fics and dispite not having the books I know Hiccup understands Dragonese and can sometimes speak Dragonese.

So what if when the crew was on trial by Mala in Caldera Cae when Hiccup was first speaking to Mala he got nervous and started speaking in Dragonese which caught tge dragons attention

In Runaway Hiccup aus, Hiccup is technically an orphan because Valla never came back for him and Stoick disowned him. So what if Viggo found out about that while Hiccup was destroying him and just adopted him. Just imagine your enemy adopts you and their now your parent

I watched the new Avatar recently and ove been fixated on runaway Hiccup. So I made Hiccup and Toothless as Na'vi and Ikran

Toothless is Toruk Makto but a different type of sub speices that was hunted to almost extinction by humans, Toothless being the only one left. I made the fins red to signify the tail fin of Toothless in cannon.

Hiccup is a Na'vi from a traveling clan called the Tayrangi Clan, he stumbled upon an injured Toothless who was hurt by the hunters and left for dead. Eventually after getting him to health they bonded and became spirit brothers.

The tattoo on Hiccup's shoulder is one of Toothless.

Viggo is a human who went to Pandora and started hunting Ikran and other Pamdora animals for money, he soon heard about a Na'vi on a supposed extinct species of Mountain Banshee (the human word for Ikrans) who was freeing the animals

Hiccup is like Kiri in this au. After the humans first attack on Pandora Eywa decided to make Hiccup. Like in Avatar when Valka was connected to the spirit tree Eywa gave Valka what she wanted a baby. Valka in this au was killed by humans.

In depth Explanation:

- Since no one listened to Hiccup he started to stop talking every now and then he'd talk to Gobber but not a lot

- When getting ready to runaway, he successfully gets off of Berk without Astrid bothering him, but he and Toothless still find the Queen

- They go back to Berk in a hope to shoe them the truth about dragons, things go cannon in the ring, except Hiccup doesn't speek

- The Berkians use their heads and use Toothless to lead them to the nest

- Hiccup gets the other teens ho trust dragons and together like cannon defeate the Red Death at the cost of Hiccups leg

- Since Hiccup is a lot more distant in this au he wouldn't have a crush on Astrid, instead he thinks of her as a good candidate to lead Berk

- Hiccup becomes a feral dragon boy who travels around sometimes with the gang and sometimes visiting Berk

I just watched the Live Action How To Train your Dragon and the bit that has me wanting to write a runaway Hiccup au was the fact that it was said that if Hiccup wasn't Stoick's son he would've been sent off the island and this was said right infront of him and Hiccup probably knew that witch is sad, another think that would justify him leaving with Toothless is that Stoick also admitted to the fact he gave up on Hiccup, but Toothless just accepted Hiccup the way he was a unvikingly teen.

Is it just me or would "Can't catch me now" from the Hunger Games fit the dynamic between Hiccup and Stoick if Hiccup ranaway or was exiled, outcasted or banished because:

"There's blood on the side on the mountain it's turning a new shade of red" could be refrenceing Hiccup's opinion being different about dragons

"But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze, my footsteps on the ground, you see my face in every place but you cant catch me now" can be that Soick is reminded of Hiccup everywhere he goes but knows Hiccup is long gone and he doesn't know where Hiccup is.

"Through waiting grass, the months will pass, you'll feel it all around, I'm here I'm there I'm everywhere, but you can't catch me now, no you can't catch me now" : Stoick wishing he'd see Hiccup again but Hiccup is with Toothless free in the sky

"Bet you thought I'd never do it, thought it go over my head. I bet you figured I'd pass with the winter, be something easy to forget" Stoick thought Hiccup wouldn't leave and the Villagers thinking it would be easy to move on from Hiccup

"You can't, you can't catch me now, I'm commin like a storm into your town, you can't you can't catch me now I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down" Hiccup becoming the Dragon Master freeing dragons basically being a mini me of his mother and finding a home amongst dragons

In HTTYD 3 we see Hiccup as an adult growing a beard to represent his father but I've been thinking in the runaway aus would Hiccup instead grow his hair long and braid it to be like his mo. Is this just me or no?

I'm going to be explaining more of that post specifically sanario 1. All of these will have selectively mute Hiccup

- Hiccup over time of not being listened to by the Berkians stoped talking to them, making them think he lost his voice to the dragons Gobber is the only one we see who has a 2 sided conversation about something before Hiccup found Toothless so he would be one of the only ones who know that Hiccup is doing it because of a choice

- Hiccup would be chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare we know as Hookfang and would run away from Berk without getting caught and free the dragons trapped and caged in the kill ring

- After running away Hiccup finds the Red Death and defeats it with the dragons help and loses his leg, they then take both Hiccup and Toothless to a nest of dragons where they heal and Hiccup makes them both prophetics

- in the time it took to heal and make the prophetics, Hiccup learnt more dragonic behavior and some dragonese eventually establishing his own sanctuary that we know as Dragons Edge, dragons that were injured came there to seek shelter and heal from Hunters

- Over time helping escaped dragons Hiccup learns about Viggo and Ryker's dragon hunting and starts going on a warpath from island to island, hunt, after hunt, auction after auction, and ring after ring, he came freeing all dragons traped, making the hunters lose stock, money, and men

- this gets Viggo's attention by his surviving hunters telling him about a "demon" in all black scales with empty eyes, riding a Night Fury, producing bone chilling noises examples:

- Eventually Hiccup, and Viggo come face to face trying for an agreement after many failed attempts to capture Hiccup and keep him long enough for a talk, at first it was just too keep Hiccup out of Viggo's way, then Viggo found out Hiccup could speak Norse as well.

-After hours of negotiations Viggo agreed to profit off dragons in a non harmful way and free the ones he has in captivity while Hiccup teaches him and the hunters how to earn money and befriend dragons without harming them over time Viggo becomes a mentor to Hiccup helping him as well (no romantic relationship between the 2)

- When the dragons decide to go to the Hidden World Hiccup goes with them due to the fact he was more of a dragon than human at that point with spending almost all time surrounded by dragons, and due to his dragonic behavior the dragons exepted him as one of there own

-Berk thinks Hiccup is dead, and Hiccup never got to reunite with any Berkians properly, eventually Viggo knowing the truth and knowing Hiccup was were he truly belonged gave Berk the truth of what Hiccup did, giving proof of him living [his writing, designs or something like that] and giving them the information that he was were he truly belonged, with the dragons.

Hiccup to anyone who harms dragons:

What if Hiccup went selectively mute over the time he was hated on Berk to the point everyone minus Gobber thought he'd had an accident making him mute on top of that whenever he did speak it was as quiet as a whisper, and since Hiccup usually spends his time in the forge only Gobber knew Hiccup wasn't mute.

So instead of Hiccup saying that he hit Toothless with his contraption to his dad/Stoick he go's out by himself without anyone knowing where he is and what he's looking for and he finds Toothless eventually and they bond and Toothless actually treating Hiccup nicely and staying by him gets Hiccup to talk to him and it kinda goes as cannon exept Hiccup doesn't speak and it could go 4 ways that I can think of,

1. When being chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare we know as Hookfang Hiccup would run away successfully and free the dragons in the kill ring without getting caught and goes about life being a mini version of his mother by creating his own little sanctuary for dragons, freeing dragons from Hunters, Auctions, and Fighting rings and helping them adjust to a life of freedom of couse he would indeed run into dragon hunters, but of course Hiccup wouldn't talk to them and probably already learnt Dragonese and talks to the dragons earning him the title of a Demon from Helium.

2. Hiccup tries to runaway like in cannon but without Astrid and sees the nest with the Red Death and lands back on Berk, deciding he wanted to stop it but had his final exam in dragon training the next day and it goes as cannon with Stoic scaring Hookfang, Toothless saving Hiccup, and Hiccup stopping Toothless from Killing Stoic but instead of yelling he'd use some vibrations to tell him to stop. It would mostly go as cannon exept with Hiccup being sneaky and quiet up until the scean where he trains the others how to train there dragons where instead of talking to them giving comfort Hiccup just shows them it and wright's them the plan for defeating the Red Death instead of telling them on spot, Astrid would be the one to remind the group of the plan and they defeate the Red Death with the loss of Hiccup's left leg, and the crew would stick together like throughout the series, Hiccup being the main planner, but Astrid being the leader/2nd in comand giving the crew orders that Hiccup made.

4. Almost the same as 3 but Hiccup is perceived as a demon or witch by the Berkians for being able to talk after "loosing" his voice some would defend saying he just didn't talk but they wouldn't believe it and told Hiccup he couldn't come to Berk without being arrested, or killed along with Toothless so they leave Hiccup alone with Toothless, but of course some would secretly help him recover from loosing his leg with the Red Death, and he would again become a mini version if his mother finding her sooner due to there similar thinking about dragons they'd team up and take down Dragon Hunters, Auctions, and Fighting rings together, maybe they knew each other's identity earlier or later with working with each other to save dragons.

For 3+4 if Astrid an Hiccup don't go on the romantic flight the thing that would stop her would he Hiccup talking to her, even if theu went on the romantic flight Hiccup talking to her would make her freeze bc everyone thinks he's mute but Gobber.

To communicate Hiccup would either write or sign nither he did often due yo him being ignored for being the runt of Berk along the dragon attacks no one talked to Hiccup a lot.

I feel like the villain version of Hiccup wouldn't really entirely be a villain, he would just be a person doing the right thing, but seen as a villain to others because of the fact he kills and doesn't stop the dragons from killing as well. He would kinda be like a anti-hero.

While his original version would be considered a hero because he doesn't let the dragons kill whoever they want. But villain Hiccup wouldn't necessarily care who the dragons kill and like in cannon he'd destroy ships possibly with hunters in them.

Over all I think villain Hiccup is a anti-hero and just more violent and careless of who is killed version of some runaway Hiccup AUs

I was thinking what If Hiccup ran away and he's always infront of hunters and people in his armor, but just imagine if the trapers/hunters catch Hiccup without his armor, and he looks like a god damn twig with a missing leg and has a bunch of scratches and bruises from playing with Toothless.

All I'm trying to say Is that imagine your a hunter with your buddies lookin for dragons and you see a fucked up twig lookin kid in a dragon infested area. Your first thought would be that he was attacked by dragons so you take him back to the ship were he gets patched up and totally doesn't dissappear and free the dragons.

What if Hiccup didn't train the others to fly dragons so after defeating the Red Death Berk just accepts the fact Hiccup is there feral dragon boy. And he just keeps adopting/taking care of dragons then when Viggo, Riker, and Daguar roll around theu just see a bunch of rare dangerous dragons like the Whispering Death, and Skrill just daring them to try and hurt there babies witch are Hiccup and Toothless and on top of that he has a protective mother, a protective father, and a protective uncle figure.

To be honest I would love to see a fic were Hiccup stays on Berk and is the only rider.

Berk: this is hiccup, we found him in the trash and he tried to fistfight a dragon the size of a mountain when he was 15 with his dragon best friend (and won). His best friend who's also the beast of lightning and death itself the nightfury! Occasionally he disappears for a couple weeks and comes back with a new dragon friend, the lastest was a skrill, isn't that so nice.

Nobody on berk is in anyway normal, its only natural their heir is a dragon lady in the making (they don't know about the other dragon lady yet).

Aright this just popped into my what if Hiccup ran away and Tom found his book and let's say Snotlout put Haddock at the end of his name and Tom finds out that the mysterious "demon" dragon master is his runaway ancestor who just decided to fuck off but not before defeating a mountain sized dragon then just fucking with the dragon killers, trappers, and hunters by freeing the dragons and becoming a feared legend.

But just imagine finding out you ancestor was a runt viking that just decided that he'd free dragons across the world and when the dragons disappeared he decided to go with them. I just thought it would make a good fic.
