hello, welcome to my fic rec sideblog. this is mainly a way for me to organize and archive my favorite bingqiu fanfictions and shout out some great writers at the same time. the search features and tag list work better on desktop, but hopefully should be usable for mobile users as well. this blog is a work in progress so please let me know if anything looks weird/broken. also, if you end up enjoying one of the fics i've recommended, make sure to give comments and kudos to the author and show them some love!

i only tag and summarize fics that i have personally read and recommend. i tend to favor longer fics and mostly skim smut so that will probably remain undertagged, so let me know if there's anything i missed.

Words: 16,131 Summary: "One night, Luo Binghe notices something odd about the way his blood is pooling on the floor of the woodshed." A twelve year old Luo Binghe meets his Other Shizun.

This is sort of a Coraline-AU, where the OG Shen Qingqiu survived his qi deviation and without anywhere else to put Shen Yuan, the System sticks him in a hidden realm. Binghe is a mix of Bingge and Bingmei in this, and while there are a lot of sweet, fluffy moments, there's also some horror elements and genuine creepiness. I love this fic a lot and it's always a very quick, enjoyable read, and such an interesting and unique concept. I highly recommend this, at least as long as you can handle a small helping of body horror, lol.

Words: 38,534 Summary: Luo Binghe develops a gap in his memory, one that is shaped specifically like Shen Qingqiu. “Binghe, speak to this master,” Shen Qingqiu says firmly, and Luo Binghe gives him a strange look. Shen Qingqiu can’t place it and he leans forward, intending to get closer to see better. But the hand around his wrist instantly tightens to the point where it hurts, and Shen Qingqiu lets out a squawk of pain. “Binghe—!” “Why do you keep calling me like that?” Luo Binghe returns, and Shen Qingqiu’s eyes widen at the way the words are devoid of any emotion. It is nothing though, compared to the force of what Luo Binghe says next. “Who are you?”

This is just a devastating read, like tears of blood streaming from your eyes, heart ripped out of your chest and stomped on kind of a read. IT'S SO GOOD! So painful, but so good. And once the hurt is over, the comfort is just so incredibly satisfying to read. This is hands down my favorite amnesia fic, it's so well done, I highly recommend checking this out if you haven't already :)

Words: 48,855 Summary: In which Shen Yuan pisses the System off and it sends him straight into the Endless Abyss. Four years later, Shen Qingqiu does the same to Luo Binghe.

This is such a well written and unique abyss fic, with a grey lotus Luo Binghe and a reluctant mentor Shen Yuan. This is the rare fic where Shen Yuan is just as, if not more blackened than Luo Binghe, but I think this is one of the best executions of that I've seen. Shen Yuan still seems like Shen Yuan, he's just been going through it lol. There is such interesting and unique world building in the abyss, and a lot of genuinely hilarious moments. This fic is incomplete and hasn't been updated in a couple of years, which is such a shame because it is so well done and original (and it also leaves off on a bit of a cliff hanger :P). Still, it's definitely worth a read and I really hope the author comes back to it someday!

Words: 20,751 Summary: Luo Binghe doesn’t mean to reach out to Shen Qingqiu. It’s a combination of instinct, the force of habit, and sheer agonized longing that causes him to do it anyway. His physical body is safely ensconced in his rooms at Huan Hua Palace, where he has recently been accepted as a visiting disciple, but his mind—His mind is on Qing Jing Peak.He doesn’t even realize it isn’t one of his own dreams at first. or: while at Huan Hua, Luo Binghe keeps sharing dreams with his shizun, and it doesn't take long to notice that there is something very, very wrong with Shizun's dreamscape

This is a pretty good system/identity reveal fic, featuring Luo Binghe's 200 Protagonist IQ, a pretty cool/unique depiction of the system, and of course a healthy portion of angst, lol. This is a short and highly enjoyable read, this is definitely one of my favorite system reveal fics :).

Words: 130,062 Summary: Shen Qingqiu wakes up one morning to find his husband replaced by his Proud Immortal Demon Way counterpart. No-one is happy about this. (Correction: Bing-ge is happy about this.) OR: When a qi deviation causes Bing-mei and Bing-ge to switch places, everyone has a lot to learn about each other.

This was so insanely good. Every character is so thoughtfully written, this fic definitely changed the way I see characters like Bingge and their motivations. There are so many genuinely heart wrenching and/or sweet moments, and a lot of twists that completely caught me off guard. It's hard for me to fully get across how good this was in a short summary, I loved this so much. If you like Bingge vs Bingmei, identity reveals, and dogblood angst, it is hard to find much better than this fic. Although even everything else aside, this is such a good character study, and if nothing else you will walk away from this with a whole new perspective on these characters. If it's not obvious, I highly recommend this!

Words: 52,243 Summary: When Shen Qingqiu drew Shen Yuan’s soul sword, it felt like being burned from the inside out. The fire wasn’t cruel, but it was still fire—hot and destructive, searing the softest pieces of him. When Binghe’s fingers touch the hilt, he is ready for pain. Transmigrated into a version of Proud Immortal Demon Way where cultivators manifest their own souls into spiritual weapons, Shen Yuan finds himself sort of kind of…accidentally blackmailing Shen Qingqiu into taking him on as a disciple before Luo Binghe joins the sect. That should give Shen Yuan plenty of opportunities to make sure nothing goes wrong for his favorite protagonist, right? RIGHT!? A story of twists, turns, hope, despair, and soul swords. Written for the Bingqiu Reverse Minibang 2023, illustrated and conceptualized by the incredible Suzu!

This is sooooo good, if you start reading this I guarantee you won’t stop until you finish. The dynamic between Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu is amazing, funny, and heart breaking in equal measure. Features Shen Yuan’s ridiculous self sacrificing behavior, lots of disciple shenanigans, Luo Binghe’s moon sized crush on his Shixiong, and Shen Jiu slowly learning how to be softer. And on top of all of that, the art that goes along with the story is super beautiful! I only just read this and it’s already become one of my all time favorite Bingqiu fics. I can’t recommend this enough!

Words: 48,194 Summary: Right, the villain's beautiful daughter, who had caught a glimpse of the Protagonist from afar and, naturally, fell madly in love at first sight. She'd used her knowledge of her father's lair to sneak into the dungeon where Luo Binghe was being held and eventually proved the key to his escape, betraying her father for love. "So, you want to try to find some random girl who's willing to sneak in past the guards to Luo Binghe's prison and..." "What random girl could we possibly trust? I'll do it myself!" "You know what," Shang Qinghua said. "Somehow I feel like I should have expected this." --- Shen Qingqiu self-detonated at Hua Yue City, but he didn't die. Instead, he wakes up to a world where Cang Qiong is victorious and Luo Binghe has been imprisoned beneath the mountain. What's a poor transmigrator to do? He has to find a way to free the Protagonist before he breaks out and razes the Sect to the ground! Clearly, the best way to do this is to pretend to be one of Luo Binghe's future wives. Clearly.

Shen Qingqiu's borderline delusional obliviousness combined with his complete lack of self regard make for an at times hilarious, at times hair pullingly frustrating, and an all around fantastic read. The interactions between all of the characters are great, and everybody's growing frustration with Shen Yuan's ridiculousness is so so good.

Words: 54,248 Summary: At a crucial moment in Proud Immortal Demon Way, Luo Binghe loses faith in his shizun. Shen Yuan, a brand-new reader of a novel still in the backstory chapters, feels so bad for him that it rips a hole in space-time. Now he's tasked with fixing the baby protagonist's broken heart, so Luo Binghe is ready to become the stallion he's destined to be! Your classic reverse transmigration premise, but Binghe is fifteen.

Luo Binghe is kind of a combination of Bing-ge and Bingmei in this. It's an alternating POV and I love the way that the author wrote both of them so much. I went from laughing at Shen Yuan's obliviousness to getting punched in the gut by Luo Binghe's angst. It's about as dark as you would expect from a half blackened Luo Binghe POV, but that's well balanced out because it just makes the sweet moments (and the Binghe whump!) hit even harder. It took me a while to make this post because I just couldn't resist rereading this one again, it was so good

Words: 30,995 Summary: The blob finished rotating into place in a way that wasn’t quite compatible with geometry as Shen Qingqiu understood it, and cleared a throat it didn’t seem to have. “Greetings,” it said, somehow clearly addressing him in particular more than the room as a whole despite its total lack of features other than blueness and translucency. “I’m here on behalf of the Hyper-Celestial Peace and Order Enforcement Bureau. Crime scene secure, proceeding to interviews. Beginning with Subject One: You are Shen Qingqiu, formerly Shen Yuan, also known as Peerless Cucumber?”

A magical space cop outs Shen Yuan as a transmigrator during a Peak Lord meeting, giving Luo Binghe some complicated feelings about their relationship. Includes some really cool system lore and a lot of funny interactions between characters.

Words: 14,066 Summary: After the Immortal Alliance Conference, Shen Qingqiu qi deviates. The deviation itself isn’t bad, but it allows Without-A-Cure to spread far further than it did originally, disabling Shen Qingqiu by a non-insignificant amount. So when Huan Hua calls for Shen Qingqiu’s imprisonment in Jinlan City, Without-A-Cure makes it very clear that Shen Qingqiu can not be held in the Water Prison away from the medical attention he needs these days. Instead, Shen Qingqiu is allowed to return to Qing Jing, provided he takes Luo Binghe back with him.

Luo Binghe goes back to Qing Jing Peak to be Shen Qingqiu's prison guard, where Shen Qingqiu realizes that his blackened protagonist is not so blackened after all. Very whumpy, filled with miscommunications, an all around quick and enjoyable read.

Words: 45,166 Summary: Liu Qingge insists on guarding Shen Qingqiu while he's being held in the Water Prison, Shen Qingqiu goes to trial, and the Old Palace Master tries to force his hand by using a truth-finding artifact. The results aren't what anyone was expecting.

Shen Yuan is forced to give the cultivation world some System exposition at the Huan Hua trial, forcing him to work things out with Luo Binghe and leading to the pretty funny realization among the Peak Lords that Shen Qingqiu was a lot younger than they'd realized...

Words: 45,166 Summary: In the time between sacrificing himself to stop his estranged disciple’s qi deviation and waking up in his back-up body, Shen Yuan -formerly Shen Qingqiu- experiences a long series of dreams that make him confront quite a few things about himself that he’d been stubbornly ignoring. Good thing they’re just dreams, right? Otherwise he’d never be able to look Luo Binghe in the eye ever again. - Binghe froze under his hands as Shen Yuan brought him into the most gentle hug he could manage. “Still crying?” He asked, only just keeping the unsteadiness out of his voice. He was naked and this was a sex dream and Binghe was crying all over his dick. He didn’t need his kinks spelled out for him quite this explicitly, thanks. - Or: two horny idiots finally get out of their own way.

Unwitting dream realm shenanigans lead to Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe being able to be honest with each other in a way that they couldn't within the original narrative. Pretty smutty with great plot and characterizations, an alternating POV (with some Shang Qinghua and Liu Qingge as a treat). This fic is still a WIP but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for the next update :)

Words: 32,011 Summary: Luo Binghe peeks up at him, eyes rimmed nearly as red as his demon mark. “Shizun won’t send me away from him?” Slowly, almost involuntarily, Shen Qingqiu's arms come up to embrace Luo Binghe in return. He’s already gone totally off-script here, what’s a little more adlibbing? He has fifteen seconds left before Luo Binghe must enter the Abyss. “I won’t,” he says quietly. “But you must be brave, Binghe. This will not be easy, but there is only one place for us to go. Shizun is sorry.” The two of them are only a few paces away from the cliff. Even without access to his cultivation, Shen Qingqiu has a height advantage, and more importantly, he has surprise on his side. It is almost too easy to clutch Luo Binghe tighter in his arms, step forward, and -- Shen Qingqiu really hopes he doesn’t die when he hits the bottom. That would be so embarrassing.

This is my favorite abyss fic ever, it's an incredible fix-it while still having just the right amount of miscommunications and painful obliviousness. The worldbuilding in the abyss is super creative and interesting, and it just hits every mark for me, I can't recommend this fic enough .
