Seeing a vid on Facebook lately of this lady walking her dog and it gets attacked by a loose dog and they can’t get it off. (Here’s a link if youd like to witness)
This is a damn PSA that EVERYONE should know how to choke a dog off. Everyone . This applies to when a dog is LATCHED on. Not in the middle of a hot scuffle. Don’t stick your arms in an active scuffle pls.
Don’t hit the dog or kick the dog. Don’t throw shit at the dog. That doesn’t work ! Beating with a bat or shovel ? Useless.
Thin slip collar or use your leash as a slip lead, unclip your dog , carry an extra leash if you have to. Wrap that shit around their neck as close to under jaw as you can, right below the ears (see pic ). This is where dominant dog collars go . This is why they work. Pull up straight and smooth and hold that dog there while they flail and fight , hold them until they stop. Loop leash over your shoulder , squat down , and use your legs for leverage if you have to, that may get you bit I highly recommend relying on your adrenaline to hold them up and OUT . It’s much better to hold out in front of you not too close to the line in case that dog pops off and flails like an angry fish and tries to nail whoever is holding them . Hold about a foot above dogs head, arms fully out .
Hold that dog up until they are gasping and can’t breathe. Let them pass out if you really have to. This isn’t pretty , this isn’t nice , but it’s the best way hands down to get a dog off your dog.
Adrenaline makes dogs barely feel pain . Hitting many of these dogs is going to make them dig in more . They’re going to get mad and take it out on what’s in their mouth . Don’t do that.
Dogs can’t bite if dogs can’t breathe.
