alright, so i finally managed to sit down and watch a playthrough of the re9 story! so if anyone's interested, like this post for a grace starter??

thinking about fic or thread concepts with emily rn.......... especially if i incorporated supernatural or borderline supernatural elements into them. because characters in a more "grounded" setting having to accept/process the existence of the supernatural is my most beloved story element, but also, i just think it'd be really fun to introduce that side of things through emily specifically???

i do not know why. and i still haven't gone through re9 yet but STILL!!

OKAY SO UPDATE - mental health still bad. i think i'm gonna have to accept that i'm not going to have the brainpower needed to get through re9 for a while, though i still definitely plan to make progress when i can / as soon as i'm able.

so that kind of sucks. on the other hand though, my muse for wesker and co has come back a bit more this evening, so i might try and get some stuff done with my non-re9 muses if possible?? definitely thinking about stars era interactions in particular rn... idk, we will see, but the point is i'm not dead yet!

unfortunately i have been busy af this weekend & super drained as a result, so i probably won't be able to get on playing re9 for a bit & haven't been able to so far, lol. fingers crossed i manage to soon now that i've got more time again - my adhd meds have been really ineffective for me lately so i have no idea if i'll succeed at actually playing it or if i'll cave and watch a let's play first, but. we will see.

MORE LEAKS THOUGHTS, DO NOT READ IF AVOIDING SPOILERS, ETC

very interested in potential wesker and grace interactions (in rp/fic/fandom and such, obviously i don't expect anything like that in canon) because of the whole relation to spencer thing........ i feel like there will be a lot there for me to dig into potentially?? i have no idea if the game is gonna try and play spencer as genuinely remorseful (or at least attached to grace) or keep it clear that he was still a horrible person all around, but if it does, the idea grace getting everything that wesker couldn't have.......... i wonder if that's gotta sting for him....... like if i were him, i'd be pissed!

i should really just wait until the game is out until i make these posts lmao, but. i am thinking about potential angst & fic concepts already... for all i know the execution will be awful and i'll hate it - but i guess i'll have to wait and see to know for sure?? not sure how i feel about the thought of a remorseful spencer myself, i'm skeptical about if that could be pulled off well, but maybe the game won't go that way at all. or it'll surprise me.

I READ THE RE9 LEAKS.......... I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF........................ i promised myself i would go in unspoiled but i wasn't prepared for leaks a week early lmao, rip to my self control!

anyway thoughts (mostly regarding whether or not i'm happy about what i've heard, some plot spoilers too though) under the cut, DO NOT READ if you're hoping to remain unspoiled!!

tldr my honest thoughts are that i was initially sort of surprised people are generally so disappointed?? but i'm also not?? despite the game not actually being out yet, i've seen a lot of really strong judgements on it based on like, a few vague text leaks alone. which is something i've always found kind of annoying in fandoms to some extent, but here i do also kind of get it, lol. and i especially get the frustration with the whole "deaging leon" thing (i actually did roll my eyes when i read about that lmao, it's such a cheap way to keep milking the character........... )

but honestly for me, i was mostly excited for this game because of grace, so if grace / her scenes are good?? then i'm probably still gonna be happy with it myself. lmao I HAVE SUCH A ONE-TRACK MIND............. i've seen a lot of people also calling the plot dumb and again, i don't think being upset by that is wrong, but for me i kind of expect resident evil games to be kind of over the top and ridiculous and that's kind of part of what I enjoy about them, so. yeah. stuff like the grace & spencer connection is exciting to me solely because of shallow reasons like "it makes my girl grace important and is cool af to my 12 year old self" and because i get to connect her more to my other faves like wesker............ incredibly self-indulgent reasons like that that are very typical of me, sdfjndskfsk

it's also disappointing that no other legacy characters appeared (except sherry, i'm excited for her!!) but i guess i didn't have my expectations high there to begin with. i suppose my overall opinion is like.... the heavy leon focus/bias in re9 can be really annoying so when i see people annoyed with it i'm like. that is SO valid...... aenfdksjfnks but it doesn't bother me as much as it could, maybe since i've only been in the fandom for a short while?? it's one of those things where i prefer to blame the writers more than the character, but that's easier for me to do as a very new fan. i'm glad i read the leaks despite really wanting to go in unspoiled since now i know to not expect some kind of crazy masterpiece haha - i just wish i had more self control for once!! rip :'))

ANYWAY TLDR if you're disappointed about what you've heard about the game, that is so valid. but i just want grace so i'm crossing my fingers she gets some great moments and isn't sidelined. she is literally all i care about SDFJNDJKSFNJKS

It's rare that Leon ever wants to talk about Ada Wong. He won't ever say much - whether that's because it's Sherry he's speaking to, or if he's the same way with everyone else, she can't be sure, but... sometimes, it's the words that someone doesn't say that feel the most meaningful.

His body language... the emotions he leaves unspoken that still linger in his eyes... it all speaks to something complex, something that he doesn't quite know how to put in words - maybe not even to himself. Sherry never pushes him. But in a way, it feels like Ada has always been in the background of her life, as well. If Leon hadn't met her back then, who knows how differently things would've gone back in Racoon City?

As for how Sherry herself feels about Ada... it's difficult to say. After all, she's really just a shadow. An enigma. She doesn't know enough about her as a person to understand her at all - all she can see is the impact she's had on Leon.

"You're..."

She certainly wasn't expecting to ever meet her like this today.

"Did something happen? I mean, you coming here like this, is... were you looking for me?"

Sherry feels a little awkward as she greets Jill, though she knows she has no real reason to be. There's a smile resting on her face, and she waves briefly as she speaks; but it still does nothing to conceal the weariness that her body's doing a terrible job of hiding.

Still, the awkwardness only lasts a moment before it smooths back out into something easier, and then Sherry speaks again. She wouldn't be where she is now if she couldn't handle a little conversation.

"Thanks for that back there. It's been... well, it's been rough."
