Can a fanfic please deal with the fact there were barbed wire chains on Melās face like twice or am I going to have to write that myself
I canāt believe the show doesnāt deal with the traumatic aftermath of the black rose AT ALL! Mel is a completely noncombatant character prior to becoming a mage she shouldnāt be equipped to handle all that. someone let her talk to someone or at least cry, please
Sheās is consistently talked about through her relationship to other characters & this extends to her trauma - not that Iām saying that analysis isnāt valuable but also. BARBED WIRE?? and afterwards sheās just chill and neither the show nor the fandom ever bring it up again??
This is arguably top 5 worst things any character in the show goes through ever. someone tell the vfx artists to chill out please (please)
I understand the writers had to rush through things, but the fact that there isn't even a hint of processing that trauma is really annoying. I was also angered by her being so stoic and having little to no reaction to all these events in the aftermath.
You can't even chalk it up to being a trauma response because the writers don't seem to give a fuck about Mel to begin with. Not a hug from loved ones, no words of comfort, no chance to discuss what happened to her. She got nothing.
I'm actually tired of the excuse that "it will get handled in the Noxus show", I don't think it will, at least not properly. Mel is a major character in Arcane and if the writers can't even be bothered to pay attention to her here, then I can't find solace in these issues being handled in the Noxus show. I don't trust the writers.
During ep8 it was genuinely to a point where I thought awakening her magic had fundamentally morphed her personality or something. That idk, Leāblanc stole her ability to emote during the transformation & that was why her reaction was so?? nothing
Anyway I donāt think thatās the case anymore & if it is itās bad writing because we never see her or anyone else acknowledge it.
Whoever made that post that Jayce should be Mel's narrative "dead wife" is a genius because it fits so well. Jayce to Mel represents all the hope and potential she sees in Piltover. When Jayce steps into her life he sparks the breakthrough she'd been waiting for Piltover to truly rise. He's the part of her life where Mel could believe that with hextech she could a build a world out of Noxus' reach and out of her family's legacy of violence.
But that part of her life, that hope she had, died with Jayce and the possibilities he created for her and Piltover. Jayce's death marks the actual end to the chapter of Mel's life that was Piltover, and now she's off to Noxus to start a new one.

āSky/vikā heās a faggot āMel/jay/vikā well faggots do be bi asf these days .
ngl I get where the sky/vik shippers are coming from (I love sky a lot so really I do, I understand that itās a reclamation of sorts) but also I canāt help but feel ppl who ship sky/vik in sincerity just fundamentally misunderstand the Sky and Viktor dynamic as a whole. To imagine that Viktor did/would reciprocate Skyās feelings is so hard for me cuz to me the tragedy of it all and the point was that he did not know Sky- he did not care to get to know Sky! He only tries to get to know her in death through her notes, but he will never know her, and he will always be her killer over her friend. He could have been her friend, and actively chose not to do so, and has to live with the guilt of that. No matter how many notebooks he reads He Will Never Know Sky Young.
"We need more complex female characters!" Y'all can't even handle Mel Medarda.
"Why would you let this voice set in your head? It is meant to destroy you"
friendly reminder that jayce is canonically the little spoon
As someone who loves animated tv and movies I can say with certainty that the way arcane uses micro expression is so special.
The animation of expressions is simplified in most media for obvious reasons but when arcane animates expression they seem to actually take advantage of the ability to animate each frame to really detail these micro expressions.
They add so much depth to the characters and the story in my opinion. Allowing for the audience to see the conflicting and underlying thoughts and emotions behind a characters actions.
Movement in the ears, eyebrows, lips, jaw, flickering of the eyes or eyelids. Even the way a movement can be faster or slower, halting or assured. All of it tells the story of what the character is going through or thinking better than words can.
This is why I donāt really think much about the arguments that revolve around āthey never explicitly talked about this, or apologized, or gave forgiveness etcā cause itās the little things arcane shows visually like these micro expressions which paint a much more complex picture that doesnāt need words to communicate.
Thinking about Mel again and I still stand by this take btw
haha heyyyyy hiiiiii whats skyvika hahaš
this is so stupid im sorry lmaoooo
skyvika nation rise rise now we are rising
me when theres a femslash rarepair no one has ever thought about- MY CITY NOW
Okay . So . When I was watching season 1 of arcane I was like . Wildly depressed cuz of pmdd symptoms and I couldnāt figure out why the show was interesting but not grabbing me- and then the depression lifted and I really got into it right okay yea so all this to say apparently my ass was NOT paying attention during season 1 š what do you mean Jayce almost killed himself . How on EARTHHHH did I miss that super important thing that happened.
Jayce in canon and fics: Viktor you saved my life :)
Me, an idiot: he means metaphorically
This was funnier in my head .
