I'm reviving my tumblr just to say that I think Jax is a runaway, most likely from (a possibly abusive) home The reason why I am theorising this is because he clearly shows sign of handling touch reaaaally badly which could be because of trauma AND during the flashbacks it looked like he was driving away from a suburban part towards the outside of a city during so late that noone else was on the street

Maybe someone else already said this before me, if so please send me a link because i don't know how else to survive until the next episode than reading a ton of theories >:c

Still the freakiest fact about him is that despite being as tall as a person or more, he banged out these beauties in a day or two at most (and smaller ones ina matter of hours). The longest he spent on a painting, at age 81, to make his largest ever painting, was TEN DAYS:

It is 2.9×4.3 meters large. That’s 9'4"×14'1" for people in other measurement systems. It’s HUGE. There are artists out there that spend years on paintings much smaller than this. He was not one of them.

He also didn’t only paint the sea, but he MOSTLY painted the sea. Very few people could draw light filtering through waves the way this guy did and apparently it was tied into his layering technique that allowed him to paint so goddamn fast.

He is obviously my most favorite painter ever.

Initially I didn’t realise this referred to the size of the paintings and briefly thought Ivan Aivazovsky was “as tall as a person or more” and imagined a freakishly tall Slavic artist lovingly painting the enchanting play of light and colour on the sea

The way he just *clenches fist* makes water light up from the inside. Ugh, I once zoned out in front of one of his larger paintings in a gallery and came to, like, twenty minutes later, smelling saltwater and tasting driftwood.

This is his largest painting ever. It is 2,8×4,2 meters large. That is about 9'3"×14'1". It took him ten days to paint. This is a guy who painted normal-sized paintings in an hour, two, tops, according to contemporaries.

He was utterly unique.
