HIS PAST
Erik Lodeen was never the type to follow the beaten path or do what others expected of him, which was one of the reasons he always stoodout in his small hometown outside of Berlin. For the first seventeen years ofhis life he participated in everything he was supposed to with his own quirky nature and adventurous spirit. Near the end of his secondary schooling the man began to deal with anxiety attacks caused by the community in his school. The constant attacks led to the man changing over to home schooling before completely giving up on further his education. Erik spent a year in his hometown and worked at a local pub as busboy before he moved to Berlin and pursued a photography career. Since he had no connections, the man rented a small apartment on the cheaper end of Berlin in a building that captivated Erik’s inspiration. In many ways the young man felt more alive and in control in Berlin, which made his anxiety fade almost completely. It was a relief to him to not worry anymore about his body having more control than he had, which caused him to be more impulsive than ever before.
He spent the first couple months on his own exploring the city and taking photographs of everything he experienced. Once he was settled in and had taken photos of anything and everything Berlin had to offer, the man realized he needed more income. So he picked up a job working as a small event photographer and began to plaster his apartment complex with posters advertising his services. After a day or so of the posters being hung up, Erik had a knock on the door from a small beautiful woman who lived next door. They hit it off nearly instantly and agreed to help each other in their career paths. Which meant that Mallie, the next door neighbor, because somewhat of Erik’s muse over the years. She was in practically every photo shoot he needed for his portfolio. They spent most of their free time and holidays together but he sometimes sensed the woman was holding back. Most of the people in the complex began to speculate that the two young artistic adults were sleeping with each other. And while Erik had his attractions, he knew better than to mix pleasure with business. When the crime escalated he was the one who found out about the theory.
CURRENTLY
Erik Lodeen has been living in the Birdcage Theory for the past eight months and hasn’t regretted his choice to live in the underground town. He does miss Germany and hopes to go back to it one day but hasn’t let that feeling take away from the safe haven. The photographer has enjoyed the change that the theory has provided. Along with the ability to have a steady job at the local art gallery where occasionally the owner, Bunny, will allow him to showcase his photography. When he is in the gallery he feels the most at home. As far as his co-works are considered the man is polite with them but hasn’t tried to properly befriend any of them. While birdcage is much different than Berlin it has offered more inspiration to the man and the ability to capture new things. Which has added to his portfolio and the way he decorates his apartment. Since Mallie came with him to the town he feels like a part of his home is with him which helps but Germany feels too far away. Erik considers his muse to be the best friend he has ever kept for multiple years.

HER PAST
While growing up Susan Kay always felt different from the other children on the playground, she rarely enjoyed being in large groups of people and found herself worried about practically everything when it came tothe outdoors. She would mostly strive in the classroom unless her fears of the outdoors overtook her mind – which would end with her confused and unable to focus. She was raised in Australia for most of her life by two poets that taught her how to appreciate the art of literature. When Suse turned thirteen she was attacked by a stray dog which was the final straw when it came to her views about the outdoors. The day after her attack even stepping outside gave her a freight she was unprepared for. This led to a teenage life of struggling to go to school then avoiding as much of the outdoors as she could. She preferred the comfort of her room and the solace a brook would bring to her. Her parents allowed her to hermit into her room since her anxiety about the outdoors and the attacks she experienced overwhelmed her mother. Even though Susan often attempted to push herself more and more as the years went by an acute case of Agoraphobia took over her life. She wasn’t able to take too many steps outside or be outside for too long.
After many years of pushing herself she was able to gain back some of her life at the age of twenty when she received a job at the local bookstore from an old friend. It was overwhelming at times but the books made the young anxious woman a little less anxious. By that point everyone in her life gave the woman support and the faith to keep pushing herself. Some days she would push herself too far and end up cradling herself in the corner while attempting to breathe properly. Other days she would feel victorious and be able to walk across the entire parking lot. When Susan turned twenty-three she moved out on her own, three months later her aunt (whom she was the closest to) passed away leaving her to care for her younger cousin Gretel. The responsibility took the entire family by surprise but often gave Suse the confidence to push another day. Her cousin was thirteen years her junior and connected with her better than anyone else in her life. When the crime began to escalate, Susan found it harder to push herself the way she did before. Even with Gretel’s suppose and their livelihood depending on it – anxiety took over.
CURRENTLY
Her friend and co-worker, Salvador, was the one that encouraged Susan to come to the theory and work for him at the local university library. She has been living in the theory for about eleven months with Gretel. The underground town provides some peace which helps the woman be able to go into work every day and fight her Agoraphobia a bit more than she could before. Though there are days that Susan can still be too anxious to leave her apartment or when the town becomes too much for her senses. She still cares for her cousin and made it a point to bring her along to the safe haven. Since Gretel is seventeen, Suse is doing everything she cane to help her prepare for adulthood and the ability to find who she is in the town. Over the past few months the woman finds more peace in the library than she ever had at the bookstore in her hometown which often leads to her spending more than just her work hours at the university. She makes it a point to know her co-works as deeply as they allow her to and seeks comfort in a small handful of close friends.

Susan tends to avoid using Australian slang whilst in the theory but slips up when upset or tired.

I would like to apologize for the lack of content on the roleplay. Real life has been rather hard recently and i have put my attention elsewhere. I will be doing everything in my power with my free time to bring more characters to life on here and provide more content in the days to come.

HIS PAST
Alton Greene’s life was one surrounded by water and various ‘home’ towns. He was the son of two Navy parents which often left him to be the one who cared for his two younger brothers as well as the as able to adapt to a new station as quick as possible. When he was not able to do so the man would let his brain escape for a couple hours (or days) in classic works of literature. His favorite being the epic tale from J.R.R. Tolkien. Escaping to a world of so much complexity, danger, and magic made it easier for him to handle whatever his own world had to throw at him. Though at times the nerd in him would long for a different life where he would have some magical skill that made protecting others easier. Most of the places he lived with his family were surrounded by water which always made Alton uncomfortable since he always had an unspoken phobia of large bodies of water or anything that could possibly drown him. The man hated that he had that weakness. To the point where every summer he would try to master his fear. Though typically those days would end up with a panic attack and more regret than anything else.
At the age of eighteen the eldest Greene decided to move away from his family to Pennsylvania to pursue a career as a fireman. In Alton’s mind he believed the career was one of the closest things he could devote his life to that would constantly give him opportunities to protect others. Due to his intelligence and ease of retaining information the man did very well in school. Most of his peers considered him to be the mom of the major which he never took as an insult. The years of taking care of his younger siblings led to him constantly yearning to take care of others. This yearning probably manifested in his own longing to be taken care of by someone else (though he never told anyone about that). When college was finished the navy brat was offered multiple job across the state. He settled in Philadelphia since it was known for having the most fires in Pennsylvania. When the crime rate began to escalate the fireman looked at the rise ass something he and his fellow firemen could protect the people from. The thought was taken back one night while he a fire alarm led him and his ‘family’ to an alleyway where three of his co-workers lost their lives to criminals.
CURRENTLY
Alton has been in the theory for the past eight months after receiving an offer to be a part of the theory’s fire station form the leading team. He only came to the theory out of fear of what the criminals in Philly could do to him if he chose to stay. He currently lives in the station with most of his co-workers and finds comfort in the living situation. Just like during his college years he is the one that is the most nurturing of the gang and tries his best to make sure all of the firemen are staying healthy and checking on all the proper safety precautions before letting down their guard. He will typically use his time off to get to know his co-workers better or escape to somewhere in the town that will allow him peace and quiet to escape in a new book or one of his favorites (once more). He takes comfort in odd little words or times that are much different than the one he is currently living in. If people bring up anything having to do with his favorite books he will drop his put together exterior to geek out about whatever character or chapter he loves the most.

why did you audition for this role?: The first thing I did when I got onto Birdcage’s main page was check the most wanted characters (which is something I often do when looking over a roleplay.) After looking through the bios there, I decided Tosh’s was the one that stood out to me most.
Lately, I’ve been playing outgoing and friendly characters, so I thought Tosh would be a nice contrast to the roles I usually find myself playing. Not that I think Tosh is rude or standoffish, per se, but I think he definitely has a tendency to spend more time in his own head and can be a bit oblivious to others’ feelings. He actually reminded me of a character from one of my favorite TV shows, and I think that’s what drew me to him at first. He speaks his mind no matter how strange and obscure his thoughts may seem to other people. He is blunt and unapologetic, but he doesn’t have cruel intentions, that’s simply how he is.
Tosh is also a character that has matured since moving into the Theory. I wanted to explore the change in Tosh’s mindset from the past to the present. He has learned from his mistakes and is putting in more of an effort to regard other people, which isn’t an easy thing for him to do being as selfish, and perhaps even clueless, as he is. He knows that he isn’t the conventional “good person”, but he has started to put in an effort to be more tolerant and mindful.

Stosh has never liked anything to be permanent. It’s why on his eighteenth birthday, instead of running out and getting a tattoo like the rest of his friends, he gets a piercing to his cartilage, ignoring the hounding and general mocking from his so-called companions. It’s why he can tuck all of his belongings into two duffle bags and carry his life on his shoulders without a problem. It should be scary how easy it is to walk away from everything he’s once known, to turn his back on a city that’s become his home. It isn’t. He prefers it this way.
After being hired at Ink Attack, it takes two days for Stosh to fall into a routine. He sticks to the shadows on the walls, not speaking unless spoken to, which has never really been a problem for him. It’s easy to blend into the back of the tattoo shop as he sweeps away clutter, excessively cleans needle bars until his hands are tingling with product, and spends hours sorting papers into folders and making sure the edge of a stack makes a crisp, rigid line.
It takes another three days to familiarize himself with his few co-workers. He’s had to correct them several times, but it seems they’ve finally taken to calling him Tosh and the occasional Tosh-Point-Oh, like he hasn’t heard that one before.
He learns that Helena is prone to staring out the windows for prolonged periods of time, but she’s always quick to snap right out of her haze and approach with a smile. He thinks of drawing her in chalks, in misty clouds to reflect her state of mind, but also in thick, black lines to show the boldness in her character.
He learns that Van is a bit more private than the others. Tosh almost feels the need to become a bit more territorial over the shadows on the wall of which he has become so fond. Van is friendly and charming in his own way, but there’s something in his eyes, something that makes Tosh want to draw him in charcoals, dark, deep, and smoky.
And then there’s Anthony. Tosh has gotten so used to calling him Mid-Life Crisis Hair in his head that when he first addresses his employer, he has to stutter past an “M”. Who can really blame him? One week it was racing flames that barely belonged on a car, let alone on the side of someone’s head. Then the next it was stars that made Tosh question if he wanted to remain an American citizen. Both styles were complete with a faux hawk— “Short mohawk!” Anthony will remind him insistently— running down the middle. But he was bright and cheery, friendly and had what Tosh’s mother would call a winning smile. Tosh thinks he would look best in acrylics, colorful and vivid.
It takes a month for Tosh to consider these people his friends. But this time he intends to stick with them. He’s learned that people don’t like being treated as things that can be easily replaced and tossed to the side. He keeps that in mind every time he shares in conversation and jokes with the rest of his co-workers. He finds a home for himself in the shop, and he realizes that maybe permanent isn’t such a bad thing after all.
To canonize this thought, he finally gives in to everyone’s pestering and finds himself lying across the bed table, his eyes squinting at the ceiling and his teeth pressed into the inside of his cheek while Helena’s gloved hands work away to ink the skin over his ribs.
When she announces she’s finished, Tosh can feel himself start to breathe again, and there’s hands clapping his shoulders that makes him just the slightest bit uncomfortable, mostly because he was being touched without his permission, but he decides to let it slide. He looks in the mirror, reading the reflections of words: “Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride”. And that’s how he’s decided he’s going to live his life. He was going to make a concrete decision without a hint of regret and follow through with it.
He smiled thinly, the ends of his lips perking up into position. “Thanks, Hells.”

their history:
Felicity was always one to go against the norm. When she was younger, she knew how to talk but didn’t when anyone was around. She always wanted some way to prove she was different. This philosophy only lasted her into primary school. The drama in those places is pretty underrated. She spend years wearing herself thin to fit in.
In the beginning of secondary school, she took up comic writing. A strange thing for a young girl to find herself in, but it was working for her. Later in life, she found her love for it got her into sticky situations. She left home at sixteen to pursue her goal. It landed her in living on and off the streets. She went through a period of time not knowing what she was going to do with her life. At some point, she had a failed contract with Dark Horse Comics. It never turned into anything for her. She joined a band that also didn’t turn into much.
Around six months ago, she heard of the project. Her life was already amounting to nothing. Everything in her life was always so close to being something, then it never happening. She joined for shits and giggles and here she is. Here in the Theory she is working in the comic book store. Everything about that store is a haunting reminded of what once was. She keeps herself relatively unknown.

Felicity has grown to love it. At first, it took awhile to get used to, but it’s been looking up. The idea of a new life with new people intoxicated her.

as far as personality goes, how do you interpret theirs?:
A force that can’t be denied, Felicity is probably the strongest soul you’ll meet. She enjoys classic punk music and you can probably find her in the local record store. Writing comes naturally to her. When she was still in school, she won a plethora of awards that definitely boosted her ego. While to the outsider she looks cold, she’s probably one of the nicest people.

The early morning sun blinded the poor girls tired eyes. Waking up was always the worst part of Felicity’s day. How do morning people exist? After silencing the blaring alarm on her phone, she managed to drag herself out of bed. Her rush to do nothing always ended in her tripping over the ink she left open on her floor. Her floor was covered in in discarded comic pages. The ones that never quite fit her standards. Ink was always spilled on the floor. She’s always too lazy to clean it up, so she hopes that it will come off when she moves out.
With her morning ritual of coffee and a cigarette done, she was now ready to head off to work. She flipped her hair into a shitty messy bun and put on her jacket. In the lobby, she waved at a girl who she was talking with last night. Felicity was never good at making friends, she just had many acquaintances. The streets were full of whispers of the impending Apocalypse. Back in her parent’s days, the world was supposed to end in 2012. It had something to the Mayan calendar stopping. Now, it’s a reality for her generation. Personally, she didn’t care. Let the world be over. She, of course, was safe in the Theory. The people up there weren’t interesting to her.
Work was slow, as always. The comics that were there haunted her. Her days at work were spent daydreaming of new concepts for her work. She only halfheartedly helped the occasional customer. Another repetitive day ended for her. She went to bed and got ready for the same day happening again.

It was nice to see her spoiled side in your audition but I was advise you to dig deeper into her deeper self once playing her. Since this character could fall into spoiled heir steriotype. why this role?: I’m going to be honest, the first time I read over the role, I disliked her immensely. I don’t usually go for characters who are stuck up or rude, but, when I read over her biography again, I kind of clicked with her. I don’t know why, exactly, but all of a sudden, I had a headcanon about her. And then another. And they added up to me wanting to play Audrey more than anything.

why do you want this role: I greatly enjoy how she’s described in the bio and I began to feel greatly connected to her. I love how she’s kind of like the Paris Hilton of this world, and how she’s super fake for the cameras, but she can be a real person now that they’re gone.

When she was young, she got everything she could ever want. Spoiled rotten, but she was always forgotten every single time her birthday or first day of school came around. Her parents were the picture of a rich person’s reckless abandon and neglect of their own child. Sure, they loved her, but it was never enough, because when she needed a parent she had a nanny instead. She hardened her heart at such a young age, and began acting out as soon as she figured out how to rebel. From little things like ordering the most expensive food that she wouldn’t eat, to rearranging her bedroom “just for fun”, she could find ways to drive all of the housekeepers insane. Her mother and father never noticed, though, and as they jet set around the world, little Audrey hoped that one day they’d come back and notice her. One day, she’d have a family like the ones on television. But, they never came back. Her nanny taught her to drive, dressed her for her senior prom, and interrogated boyfriend after boyfriend. You could say that she’d had a family in her house’s hired help, but she didn’t believe it: they were paid to pay attention to her every need, they didn’t do it out of love.
The cameras showed up at her door the day she turned 18. She had no idea she had such a huge following of people before that. Her parents were gone the day the first paparazzo broke into her house to take a photograph of her, but they came home for the first time in four months when they heard of the incident. They gave her a “with great power comes great responsibility” talk, and Audrey tuned them out, because she knew what she was getting into, and she absolutely adored the spotlight. She’d been the star actor at her high school, and she craved the attention everyone gave her when she was center stage. Instead of telling her parents how she really felt about their neglect, she smiled and nodded, enjoying the time she had them in front of her. The cameras never stopped following her after that. They were constantly within her vision, and she let the lights blind her. She fell more in love with the spotlight, and soon she was so self-obsessed she never even left her bedroom without a fresh coat of makeup and a pair of heels. But, underneath it all, all she wanted was to be able to be a normal person, and to sit on her couch at midday and watch old Netflix shows with no bra on. But, that was a pipe dream now, she had to feed the cameras, her only real addiction.

Audrey absolutely loves it. She may be a starlet on the surface world, but in the theory, she gets to be whoever she wants, and she doesn’t have to worry about what the tabloids will say about it.

as far as personality goes, how do you interpret theirs?:
She’s still shallow, and easily upset, but now she’s not overly rude and no where near as judgmental as she was back home. She’s so relieved by her escape, that she’s trying to live a normal life, but her “true colors” will always shine through. Because of her wealth, she’s always been vain, and because of how vain she is, she has a hard time being a person who people want to be around in the Theory. But, she wants to try and become a better person, to step out of the limelight and change herself into someone she, and the rest of the world, may actually like.

She was lounging by the pool, tanning, when she got the call from her mother. Of course she was late again, it was her “Happy Birthday!” call, and Frances Adkins was a whole week later than than her birthday. God, didn’t her mom read the magazines anymore? Anyone who’s anyone was at Audrey Adkins’ 25th birthday spectacular. It had been a pub crawl, similar to the movie “The World’s End”, where they decided to make it down the street through 10 pubs. She’d only made it thorough six when she started to get crazy, and by the time she’d gotten through ten, she was trashed and vomited on Taylor Swift. Of course her friend had forgiven her automatically, but it made for great headlines.
"Yeah, thanks mom. It was last week. Dad still hasn’t called though, so you win this year." Audrey said, dryly, into the phone. Her parents liked to compete more than anything else, and they made a competition out of literally everything. Her mom made a noise of approval, before announcing that her birthday gift was ("obviously, sweetheart") the trip of a lifetime. Her parents were sending her somewhere that she’d even be out of the public eye.
She smiled as her mother hung up the phone, then waved her hand in the air. A young waiter walked up, bringing her a new margarita, and she smiled as she sipped it and watched as the pool’s waves picked up, due to several kids playing with their parents. She felt a small pang in her heart of ice as she watched the children laughing. Her phone began to buzz, probably her father trying to get her attention, and she declined the class as she pulled her sunglasses onto her face and closed her eyes. Paradise.
