I did a thing… I’m a newly minted master naturalist.

Do I know anything about anything? I do not, but I’m an enthusiastic outdoor treasure hunter… of mushrooms, lichens, trees, birds, rocks, whatever. I think it’s all really cool.

Getting closer. I upsized my plate a little bit and moved to the “big” press at home... the pasta machine.

I would like to work on my etching skills and my inking skills, because this is super fun.

I’m going to wait 24 hours for the paper to dry completely, and then see how it takes watercolor.

Pulled out the tiny press to work on some gift tags… still working some things out, and if I want to use this design, I’ll have to enlarge it and move to the larger press… aka the pasta machine.

Doing some nature journaling, and loving it.

Welp, I did the thing. 365 doodles in 365 days (364 birds, 1 mammal).

They’re not great drawings... the vast majority of them aren’t even GOOD drawings, but quality wasn’t exactly the point with this exercise.

Some lessons learned:

1) ballpoint pen... not easy.

2) I’m not a fan of lined paper.

3) Most of these doodles were done at the end of the day, after everything else was done for the day. That was difficult, because I’m tired at the end of the day and the light isn’t great.

4) There are a few repeated birds. As it turns out, this works out better with some planning. Huh.

5) You can accomplish something in about 35 minutes a day, but with limitations.

It has been a good exercise, one that I hope to continue in a slightly different form... maybe. We’ll see...
