I'm proud to run with Team Red Cross. Love is the color of blood. A mass of blood is being shed right now, in every way, all over the world. From fires and earthquakes to children and innocent people being killed. We think its over just because we have a vaccination. We forget that there are people working with their whole life to keep us comfortable, to keep our collective reality from falling apart, to keep people alive. We may know some of them, we may be some of them... we may have been helped by them. Here's where we get back in the game... The world is a dangerous place to live in right now. Life is depressing and the only way we can keep getting up, morning after morning, is to keep each other in motion, keep moving, keep being involved in our passions, engaging others closely in them, keep being alive with others. This will be the 7th time I will be running the Chicago Marathon. I never thought I would ever be able to run it at all. This year means more than anything because it is the year we are all attempting to come back together, to believe in one another, to witness humanity and move to each other. The people of the Red Cross have been there to personally witness and help in all these disasters. They are there now, risking their lives, the health of their families, working in the unknown so there can be hope of relief from suffering. Everything is connected to another, your fall plans, your family who live far, your favorite places, your past and your future years are all affected by our actions. Here's an opportunity to take action... Let's break a barrier, cross a line and see what life is like on the other side. We can do it if we collectively trust one another.
