crazy to me how nolan’s the odyssey and fennell’s wuthering heights are both terrible off touch adaptions of their source material but when considered separate entities are both objectively well shot nice looking films but no better than okay films but nolan has was more benefit of the doubt than fennell ever did. i wonder why hmmm.
didn’t like nolan’s odyssey but i really enjoyed the compilation of men failing at a task and being publically humiliated in front of robert pattinson

my hot environmentalist take is if you’re going to blame individuals for their use of AI damaging the environment - you can (and should) also blame individuals for their consumption of animal products instead of going “but corporations!!” every time it’s brought up. don’t be hypocritical now babes.
Except I tried to get proper nutrients more than once on a vegan diet and have been hospitalized twice for it but yk go off. I shop local, and eat local. Real leather is better for the environment than fast fashion, and 90% of what I consume is from within 100 miles of me. But I also got told being dead would be better than eating meat so I don't actually expect a decent response to this.
yeahhh and "hypocritical" suggests that participating in those two social ills is roughly equivalent when uh. people need to eat food to live? and it'd be way more difficult to prove that anyone has ever *needed* to use AI.
like sure, it would probably technically be a little better for the world if i ate a fully vegan diet, but we have way less time and energy than is necessary to educate ourselves on every pet issue, especially among the working class. i'm already trying to live my life better (as most people are) and sniping at everyone who doesn't follow your personal approach in the name of being personally nicer to some distant, uncountable animals and trees is pretty fuckin hypocritical, babes
as an example, the grand grand majority of vegans/animal rights activists have not even tried to eliminate actual human slavery from their diets. i'm not going to insist that everyone joins that particular movement RIGHT NOW when i haven't even committed myself to it properly, but i don't actually have to acknowledge the moral superiority of people who don't eat meat, but do eat bananas, palm oil, chocolate, quinoa, and do buy clothes firsthand, and do "recycle" or even straight-up throw out their electronics
You don’t need AI to live - the same way you don’t need animal products to live. Millions of people live without animal products, including in some of the poorest countries in the world. AI is a drop in the ocean of environmental damage compared to animal agriculture so if they’re not equivalent, it’s because animal agriculture is worse.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism doesn’t mean you don’t fucking try harder. A plant based diet isn’t just a little bit better, it reduces a person’s environmental impact by about 75%. We do not have time to NOT reduce our individual environmental impacts, what else do you suggest we do? Nothing? because you’re suggesting nothing?
Like I’ve posted out this on other posts but we grow more crops to feed animals than to feed humans. If you’re concerned about the treatment of people who work on agricultural land, you’re still better off going vegan. Because a plant based diet takes up less crops and less land, therefore less unethical treatment of humans. Also worth mentioning that people who work in slaughterhouses are often some of the most traumatised workers you’ll find. Also worth mentioning that climate disasters are one of the biggest displacers of humans and that these vulnerable people are more likely to be impacted by displacement and pollution.
Like ironically you’re very snippy and moral high ground about me on this post lol - have a feeling i’ve hit a nerve lol. It’s not ‘my personal approach’ it’s scientific fact. It’s an undeniable scientific fact that plant based diets are far better for the environment and that animal agriculture is completely unsustainable for the planet.
Me: It’s unfair to guilt individual people over AI use when animal agriculture is far worse and far more normalised in society, we should do both
You: Actually you’re the worst person on the world for suggesting we do anything about it. We should actually just do my bright idea which is to do nothing and shame people for trying anything

everyone loves info dumping until it’s me info dumping about the climate crisis and how animal agriculture is a leading cause

Actually the most studies that look at the cradle to grave impact of leather vs plastic vs plant based materials show that plastic has about a 30% to 50% lower environmental impact than leather. And plant based material is even less.
While we’re here, your food being local doesn’t make a difference. Transportation is averaged to be about 6% of all emissions from food. Depending on the food, beef emits so much that transportation is only about 0.5% of the emissions caused. You’re just funding local pollution.
Personal note what were you even eating on a vegan diet then? Because I’ve never eaten meat in my life and i’m fucking fine lol. i’ve been vegan for years and if anything i’m healthier than i was before. I know people who’ve been vegan for 20+ years, and people with complex medical conditions who are still vegan. Seems like a skill issue 🤷🏻♀️.
Within our life time, the world will get so hot that we will be unable to grow enough food, leading to mass starvation over the entire world. We currently feed more crops to livestock than we do to humans, we could feed the entire planet with less crops than we are currently growing if we just fed the crops directly to humans.
I’m not going to tell you to die or whatever, I’ll just point out - people are dying now because of climate change and it will get worse. I’ve been called all kind of horrible things by meat eaters, shall i bring it up now to make you look back? I don’t care about moral high ground I just care about like the world not ending and people not dying.

it’s so funny to me when meat eaters try to argue with vegans or vegetarians because do you expect us not to know anything about the major life change we went through? it’s almost as if vegans are people who learnt all the facts and statistics and arguments about animal rights and animal agriculture and changed their life choices accordingly. funny that.
