together again [closed;shuu]
He wasn't a stranger when it came to the illnesses that grasped at the life force of creatures big and small, he'd seen it with his own two eyes. He felt it with his own two hands. He experienced it as it toyed with his own life. Years of dealing with living creatures gave him a fundamental knowledge in psychology and medicine, leading his to remain in a confused state as he began to read the manual given to him. Infected? With what? He exhibited no signs of an infection. Surely this can't be right?
WELL, perhaps he'll just consider it to be a vacation from the stresses of life. Not to mention an escape from the looming prospect of returning into real life. Ryuuji Kawara was about to be let loose on society, along with his bird slippers. Yet, he wasn't all to happy about it. He never regretted decisions. He was a happy go luck man who took risks and got lucky, but that wasn't the case now. The dove had been away for years fighting off that illness that actually killed him. He was lucky to have been resuscitated and alive again, but that didn't stop him from running away to recoup his strength. Years though. He's been away for too long. His son was sixteen years old now. To jump into his life now would be inconsiderate to say the least. His busy lifestyle pre-illness left a chasm between them. There we go. That's the first regret.
Then there was the case of Souma Isa.
There relationship started off normally. They were colleagues and Ryuuji was Souma's superior in the labs. He was a young, reclusive young man and Ryuuji just wasn't going to let him sit around like a loner! He knew what it was like the be the new guy and it hurt! It took awhile to chip away at his stony exterior but through sheer determination, the optimist broke into his life. The man would even call the other his best friend, but would never say that to his face. Souma was interesting, intelligent and a breath of, angsty, fresh air. There was no way Ryuuji could leave him alone any more. So constantly, day after day, he would talk to him, invite him out, just...show him how to have fun!
He missed those days. Not only did he fail Ryouta, but he failed Souma. It was disgusting really. There we go, regret number 2. He pushed so much on to the man that he most likely wouldn't want to see him again. Having the burden of a child that wasn't your own thrust on to you must have been tough. He was stupid.
Sitting on an office chair he happened to "find", something he'll return later of course, Ryuuji contemplated his actions in a slump. Maybe he'll just go and have a little bit of fun. These white walls needed to be painted with happiness! Being in such a clinical environment wasn't going to cure the patients anyway, thus leading the man child to start skidding around the corridors on his chair, leaving a trail of fire behind him. Well, that's what he imagined anyway.
Laughing merrily as the wheels shook beneath him, he glanced at everyone he passed, shooting them his best smile, even those who looked absolutely terrifying. A sharp turn lead the scientist to fall off, naturally, but that didn't stop the horrendous donkey chortle to rupture from his throat.
"Oh wow," he swiped away the tears that began to form in his eyes, "I missed this!" Ryuuji hummed as he swept off the dirt from his lab coat. Old habits die hard, and it was warm after all! He wasn't going to stop wearing it any time soon. Shoving his hands in the pockets of the garment after he was pleased that it was neat enough to continue on his adventure, the dove looked around in the hopes he'll find a like minded fellow to enjoy the day with, but it was futile.
All the fellow patients already had their own groups by now, leading him to feel lonelier than ever. Perhaps he'll converse with the man that remained quiet in the corner! He gave off the same air as Souma when he first came into his colourful life. Dark, taciturn and unsociable. All that spelt was "challenge" to Ryuuji! Ok! Now it was time to start his mission to worm his way into this strangers heart and get him to enjoy to company of others, not just the company of a book. The closer he got, after all, the more he looked like his former colleague. Same colour hair, same purple hair ribbon.....same....lab coat. OH WELL! This life is full of coincidences so it's not too much of a surprise!
"Okay legs! Let's see what you can do. Show the world that I'm not an old man!" Crouching his knees, the avian went in for the kill. "Ready! Se...hold on I gotta pull up my pants for this...ok! Seeeeeeet. GO!" With one awkward leap, Ryuuji ran at the poor man in the corner and pounced, latching on to the corners as soon as possible. With his legs shaking and regret three looming on the horizon, he prayed that the stranger would take notice of him before he breaks a hip or something.
"HEY THERE STARSHINE. THE EARTH SAYS HELLO. BUT MOSTLY ME! YOU SHOULD MAKE FRIENDS YOU KNOW!!"
NAILED IT!!!!
