It is only the dull, sleepy mind that creates and clings to habit. A mind that is attentive from moment to moment — attentive to what it is saying, attentive to the movement of its hands, of its thoughts, of its feelings — will discover that the formation of further habits has come to an end.

They criticize the silent ones. They criticize the talkative ones. They criticize the moderate ones. There is no one in the world who escapes criticism.

This angel to me
A fire was lit that you never would see
Yes, easily overwhelmed
But what could she do with a head of all realms
Instead, blessed with capability
She saw through all facades, even the one round me
Intelligence of divine precision
Words to broad, thoughts taking place in contextual fission
Of us all, she was the young
But what piercing ancient truth, her lips they have spun
For my part, I am saved
Finally fulfilling promise and psycho-dreams made
Light of life brightens, most definitely
When you know how good and precious, one human can be
Don’t let yourself, or your ears, be offended by improper or unscheduled sounds. If, for example, the record is scratchy, okay. You wouldn’t object if you were listening to it sitting by a fire…. crackling logs. Simply close your eyes and allow your ears to hear all sounds around you. Don’t try to name or identify these sounds. Just hear them as you would listen to music. As when you hear a flute or a guitar. Don’t bother about what it means. Your brain will take care of that by itself. Just let your eardrums respond as they will, to all vibrations now in the air.

I’m trying to put a person on this paper
But truth is it’s hard to tell
When you sit in a café, with a lot of music in the background and a lot of projects in your head, you’re not really drinking your coffee or your tea. You’re drinking your projects, you’re drinking your worries. You are not real, and the coffee is not real either. Your coffee can only reveal itself to you as a reality when you go back to your self and produce your true presence, freeing yourself from the past, the future, and from your worries. When you are real, the tea also becomes real and the encounter between you and the tea is real. This is genuine tea drinking.

We all have a thirst for wonder. It’s a deeply human quality. Science and religion are both bound up with it. What I’m saying is, you don’t have to make stories up, you don’t have to exaggerate. There’s wonder and awe enough in the real world. Nature’s a lot better at inventing wonders than we are.
Carl Sagan (via scientificphilosopher)
The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished.

Our life is made by the death of others.

You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems and suffer and understand, for all that is life.

To be upset over what you don’t have is to waste what you do have.
