What team will you join at the June All Hands meeting?
All Hands
The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is holding their annual All Hands meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi June 16 - 18, 2015. http://www.gulfofmexicoalliance.org/announcements/events/2015-all-hands-meeting/
Don’t release balloons!
They are fun. They make people happy. They can carry great symbolism. But releasing balloons into the air create land and marine debris. Even small pieces of balloon look like food to animals. Enjoy but don’t release. http://marinedebris.noaa.gov/regional-coordination/rising-concern-reducing-balloon-debris-through-social-marketing
Mother’s Day!
Have a great one everybody. Families, please help recycle those boxes, bows, and bags that your gifts have come in.

My daily plug to check out the #gulfofmexico #oilspill project mapper. Not that anyone is looking ... but .... you know ..... just in case.
There is no traction here.
I’m stumbling with tumbling.
What have you searched lately?
Dead zones have been found in deep ocean waters for the first time. Will these lead to the widespread death of marine life?
Interesting, dead zones are not restricted to coastal areas and certainly not just the Gulf of Mexico.

Pet Peeve - People of the Gulf of Mexico have always cared for it
Errr, Huffington Post, this blog title is a little off, "Five Years After BP Spill, Gulf of Mexico Is Rekindling Responsibility for the Gulf's Future." What? Don't people take responsibility? The states or businesses perhaps? I do appreciate the positive spin of the story though. But the people that live along the Gulf of Mexico have always taken responsbility for it. People live, love, breathe it. Don't ever assume otherwise. Folks can read the story here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mark-tercek/five-years-after-bp-spill_b_7190930.html
The Gulf, Still at Risk
Read this New York Times op-ed about how the Gulf of Mexico is still at risk, now five years after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. While good things have resulted from the disaster, the appropriate restoration needs to be ensured. See where early reparation dollars are going with www.dwhprojecttracker.org. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/22/opinion/the-gulf-still-at-risk.html?_r=1&utm_campaign=main&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social-media
