4 Reasons to jump on the Flyers Bandwagon
Has your team recently been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs? Did your boys’ stay in the bubble last shorter than their last vacay in Cabo? Not even in contention this year? Well if you’re not ready to go back to being hockeyless for months and could desperately use a new team to distract you during the hell that is this pandemic + current political environment then read below for my completely biased arguments as to why you should chose the Flyers as your playoff bandwagon team.
Seriously, not only is this kid good but he is also incredibly easy to want to root for. He had a ton of hype coming in and in my opinion has lived up to it as good as anyone could have. He’s only 22 years old and has the incredible mental strength and maturity that is key to good goal tending and on top of that is just crazy talented. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also a total sweetheart that takes responsibility for tough losses (even when he’s 100% not to blame) and is polite to everyone off the ice.
Please name a more iconic mascot, I’ll wait. Not only is he entertaining as hell and fun to joke about, but he’s also brought more attention to the hockey world from the mainstream media in the past few years than Mcdavid and Matthews combined, neither of which made it past the play-in round. Plus his chaotic energy perfectly incapsulates Philadelphia.
We’ve got the ridiculously feisty, never shuts up, Travis Konecny (this is literally the worst photo I could find of him), too good for this world Travis Sanheim, and dog dad sweetheart, Shayne Gostisbehere.
Certified himbo™ and best new addition to the team, Kevin Hayes.
One of the hardest working D-men in the league, and current mountain man, Ivan Provorov (seriously his current beard / flow combo is impressive, look into it).
Plus more gingers than you can keep track of in those orange uniforms (Left to right: Sean Couturier, Captain Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, and Michael Raffle).
Reason #4: Oskar Lindblom
Can you honestly imagine a better storyline for this season than Oskar’s? Having a breakout season, easily one of our best players early on, then being diagnosed with cancer, going through treatment, and being declared cancer free in time to join his team in the bubble and even having a shot to play if the Flyers have a deep enough run. Because I can’t. I mean that’s movie script material right there. And even if Oskar isn’t ready in time to play you know he’s rooting for this team with his whole heart and that they want the cup for him more than anything.
So that’s my pitch. Flyers fans feel free to add on and if your team’s still in it make your own post telling me why I’m wrong and everyone should be bandwagoning your boys!
