So, the other day, when I was discussing AO3's policy on solicitation, a tumblr user came at me saying that AO3's "no monetization/solicitation" rules were "bullshit" because nexus mods allows fan created mods to get paid.

Stayin’ a Larrie

Hi. I was not a ID fan back then and until recently had only heard a few songs. Can you tell me more about the boys being compared to the Dancing in the street video? Do you mean the one with mick jagger and David Bowie from the 80s where they basically jumped around and acted silly? Thank you so much - I appreciate your blog!!

yeah, harry = Mick jagger because of his likeness, Louis looks a bit like bowie and had that iconic trench coat. so, larries had a lot of fun comparing them. that's really all there is to it.

well, that and Bowie and Mick were probably fucking.

re: the aperture music video, idk if you’re familiar with Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice music video, but it definitely felt to me like it was referencing that. why, i don’t know, beyond that it’s a cool music video, but the setting and choreo and some of the shots really felt familiar.

I will say the matrix does precede this video, but the references are also all in that late 90s early 2000s era with the exception of Dancing in the street (1985)

#one reason for the reference#is that the choreographer for harry's video#has made other things that reference weapon of choice before#ryan heffington#choreographed a commercial for Kenzo World in 2016#that is very obviously inspired by Weapon of Choice#And since 2026 is supposedly the new 2016#he referenced this mv again#when choreographing aperture

I admit i was having doubts if they were together for couple of years now but this together together thing is insane. Some bluegreening is whatever but all this can't be an accident or even larrybaiting because if they broke up they wouldn't be so coordinated. They released on the same day, so they're charting side by side and louis releases a song with repeating together together lyrics while Harry is selling his together together tour ????????

Yeah, I think if you're still insisting that all of the stuff that's been going on over the last 6 months or so isn't about Larry, then I can't help you. You're just refusing to see the blatantly obvious information smacking you in the face.

For me, it was never about any of the singular moments. Of course, some blue and green lights could be anything. But it was the hundreds of "coincidences" over the course of 15 years. How could ALL of them be misinterpretations?

Okay, so here are my initial thoughts:

The hotel room definitely evokes Harry's House, and I could read more into it - it reminds me of the spaghetti dinner in LNT for instance - but I think it's just an aesthetic set for the most part.

Then we have the Matrix section/the I'm Afraid of Americans section (glad other people noticed that because I'm not familiar with the video)

And that turns into the "Dancing In The Street" section, which is a bit of an easter egg for any OG Larrie because we used to compare the boys to this video specifically. Take note of the parallels between the trench coat and the soda.

It seems more like it's probably representing touring in America than anything, to me. I don't think that's what the song is about, but I do think you can use a music video to recontextualize a song and say something new.

I hadn't. Listening now - loving piano Louis. Seems like there are a lot of lines that could mean one thing or the opposite, which appears intentional. There's a part of the album where it seems Louis is off on his own looking inward, and this seems like it would make sense in there.
