Hey Evienyx, this is the thing I commented I was working on some chapters ago, ta-daaa
Originally I was just gonna draw this scene as a still image, but I was unsatisfied with the sketch I did because it wasn't conveying the emotions of the characters like I wanted it too, since the vessels can't emote normally and all. And then I was thinking "man I wish I could make it move so I could make these little goobers express themselves better" and that's when I remember I'm an animation student and I literally can lol.
So yeah this thing was basically a fun challenge for me to practice character acting without having expressions to use as a crutch, which was tough, but I'm pretty happy with the results. I also mostly worked on this on my very long train rides to and from school, which is why it took so long and why I had to back to my roots and pull out Flipaclip to do this, since I don't have a mobile computer to use Toon boom or anything more professional on a train, so that was an additional challenge lol. It was fun though, restrictions breed creativity or something.
Obviously this isn't perfect, originally I wanted to go back through and fix some of the proportion mistakes (Hollow's horns are all over the place I know, they're deceptively hard to get right), the janky colouring from working with flipaclip, and do some basic backgrounds, but with the holidays and me starting a big project for school in a couple weeks I'm worried I just won't have the time, so, as it stands this is the final version. If I have time I might get to it but don't quote me on that lol.
Fun fact, while working on this I was listening to the Frozen ost quite a bit, because this scene gave me "do you wanna build a snowman" vibes. And it made me realise how Anna and Elsa coded these two are in this fic. Two siblings who have a huge rift between them because of things one of them has to hide from the other, it's such a tragic dynamic, especially since without any clues or context for why Ghost acts the way they do Hollow is led to assume it's because of them, and their betrayal back at the abyss that this rift exists. These poor, poor little bugs, Ghost really needs to have their "Let it go" moment except less "make a castle out of Void and sing" and more so letting go of the immense pressure and self imposed isolation they've put on themselves. But you know, making a castle out of Void also wouldn't hurt, it'd be sick as hell.
