while i love m’s route, i have such a gripe with the non-fwb route. like it’s so obvious that the route is written with fwb to lovers route in mind, which is completely fine (and a route that i love so so much a la vanessa & mason). but i just wish that if that was the case then there was a caveat in b1 when you lock in your li that this route is only accessible via a fwb route. because if you offer the non-fwb route then the dialogue should reflect & respect that and it clearly doesn’t? like what do you MEAN M propositions the detective the night before, they say no, and then the next DAY M is propositioning them again as if last night didn’t happen??? and then in book3 in the whole bakery scene debacle there’s literally no choice to get mad and be like ‘we’re not even sleeping together, why are you still hanging around me?’ like i know that M being unaware is the crux of the route but it just doesn’t work in the non-fwb route — like it could if it was acknowledged UGH IDK.

Currently Reading: It’s been quite a while since I’ve read a book, but I am technically in the middle of reading Wrong for Him by Christi Barth (book 3 in the Love Lottery series). I am also in the middle of another series, Bellamy Creek by Melanie Harlow and I think book 2, which is Make Me Yours, is up next. I also got into some Thomas Hunt feels this week and so I did a replay of Red Carpet Diaries on Choices. And, of course, my Wayhaven fever is still going strong, so I am working on my A route as well (although it admittedly hasn’t gotten far, considering the RCD replay lol)

ohhh you know what just occurred to me. the detective and rebecca are both "agent lastname" now. people at the agency are probably going to come up w a shorthand way of referring yo the detective. "the other agent lastname" "agent lastname jr" whatever. how irritated will your detective be by that.

So this totally is not something that is gonna happen for Kat & Mason ... but it popped into my head and just now and ... just ... sigh ...
So cue Mason taking care of Kat after the building falls on her damn head. Doing something that would have been so out of character just a few months before (aka sweet and endearing) in an adorably aggressive way. Because he doesn't understand why he feels so compelled to do so, why he cares so damn much, worries so damn much. And Kat is still zapped emotionally because she's still so messed up, emotionally and physically. And she's just laying there watching him dote over her and the energy needed to cut off the link between her heart and mouth is just MIA ... and she whispers, without realizing, "I love you."
Instantly she knows what she did (would have even without feeling him tense beside her) and then she tenses so bad it causes her physical pain. I mean ... she didn't even know she loved him til it was out of her mouth and now ... what if he freaks. What if he leaves her just like the other 3 people she'd said those words to did.
Mason isn't quite sure what to do when he hears it. But then he feels the way she tenses and feels how uncomfortable she is. The only thing he can think of to make her feel better is to leave and pretend he didn't hear -- maybe even wondering why even the thought of doing so hurts so much. But he does it for her.
Update: I have now decided this is the song Katalynn sings along to when she is driving her and Mason to the carnival for their undercover mission and turns the radio back on in book 2. The look she would get from him, rocking out to a song that is talking about a couple in the backseat at the same time she is totally brushing off all of his sexual comments and offers (not just the ones for the backseat) ... *chef's kiss*
I know technically it may not have been out at that time yet ... but I'm in love with this idea so technicalities be damned lmao
